RE: Meet Nebuchadnezzar - NightskyeB4Dawn - 04-17-2024 Nebuchadnezzar is still about the same size. He has not grown much in size, still weighs in at 9 pounds, and eats more than Enoch and Sylvester combined, and he is gangster. Nebuchadnezzar won’t backdown to any of the other critters. He still thinks he is king of the estate. He spends days with my Mom, following her every move like he is a puppy. But he comes and gets in my lap the moment she goes to bed, and he sleeps with me. Until he hears Mom get up, then I am chop liver until she goes to bed again. He and Enoch have learned a new trick. They have learned how to knock on the front door to be let in. A friend gave me this door hanger. They have learned how to use to it to knock on the door. Trust me, it is loud, and you can hear it even if you are on the back porch. Nothing dumb about my animals. I guess the saying don't ever under estimate the cleverness of cats & dogs, is true. Zunar is on overwatch duty today. Nebuchadnezzar has not shown any attempts to climb onto high places. Maybe because he is too small to get up there, and getting down is twice as hard as getting up. He is too smart. He came in through the front door and lived 3 months on the front porch until the Vet said it was safe to allow him near my other crits. He knows what Hell he escaped coming through those doors and he runs away from the front porch door if you open it when he is around. He will go outside from the back porch, I don't think he knows that the two are connected. He made it down to the pond yesterday, by way of the back door, but the moment he realized I was leaving the pond area, and leaving him behind, he laid down on his back, purring and meowing, asking me to pick him up. I did. I picked him up and took him back the the back porch, but he beat me into the house. RE: Meet Nebuchadnezzar - NightskyeB4Dawn - 04-18-2024 Just had to add this post. I didn’t realize that Mother was not aware of Nebuchadnezzar’s routine. She went to bed later than usual, and she thought it odd that he was making so much noise, as he shadowed her every step. I told her he was upset because she upset his routine. She asked what routine, so I told her. She went to bed, and as soon as she did, he came out of her room and got into my lap. I called her and told her to come to the living room door for a few seconds. She said, “Okay.” She laughed when she saw Nebuchadnezzar, lying in my lap. Of course he was torn about what to do when he saw her standing in the living room instead of being in bed. He told her in Huskicat language, “Go to bed now.” Laughing every step of the way, she went back to bed. He is still lying in my lap, and he will stay here until I go to bed, which will be soon, he will follow me into the bedroom, climb into bed with me, and will sleep there, until Mom wakes up in the morning. He does not like his routine interrupted. Thank goodness he doesn’t have a cut off time for when I go to bed. Bad Baby, is still very much Bad Baby. I have two therapist, and they have both fallen in love with Bad Baby. He has the gift of the magic spell. Even my brother who is not fond of cats, loves Nebuchadnezzar. But to be fair, Nebuchadnezzar acts more like a puppy than a cat, and with him being so tiny, his bad ass ganster demeanor, makes him stand out and endears him to you fairly quickly. RE: Meet Nebuchadnezzar - NightskyeB4Dawn - 06-07-2024 Nebuchadnezzar came to us July 3, 2023. We didn't know how old he was, but he was tiny, malnourished, and sunburned. He is coming up on his anniversary and he has come a long way from his near death experience, and is his 3 pounds. He is now hanging in there at a steady 9 pounds. He is 16" long and 7" tall. He is still fearless, and thinks he is king of the homestead, and the Roomba. The Huskies and Enoch tolerate him, but Sylvester will only take so much and will occasionally bitch slap him, but he never learns. RE: Meet Nebuchadnezzar - NightskyeB4Dawn - 07-16-2024 Bad Ass Baby gained weight! He weighed in at 9.2 pounds! Up a whole 0.2 pounds from months at 9 lbs He eats 3 times more than any of the others and he is the tinniest. He is long. Almost 20" and almost 13" tall. Still full of spit and vinegar and doesn't know when to back down. I caught my Brother the other day holding him, and overhead him whisper to him, "Do you know how much I love you?" You could have knocked me over with a feather. He still has that gift of sneaking into people's hearts. And he is still bad as hell. Him and Tamar make a great team. Tamar a Florida Husky, spawn of Satan. Nebuchadnezzar a Bombay cat, tiny, hellion. Gotta love him. RE: Meet Nebuchadnezzar - NightskyeB4Dawn - 07-17-2024 Nebuchadnezzar escaped the porch today. I knew that one day he would have to return to the wild, so I refused to allow myself to feel sad about it. Imagine my surprise when I returned to the house after refilling the bird feeder, to hear this crying sound. Loud as hell and getting louder. Here comes Nebuchadnezzar walking rapidly towards the house, keeping to the shade, making it take longer to get to me. He did some deep cuddles and looked glad to be home. He has spent the whole time since curled up at the foot of my bed. I wonder how long it going to take before he goes wandering again. RE: Meet Nebuchadnezzar - NightskyeB4Dawn - 07-18-2024 Yep. They are a hell of a lot smarter than humans. RE: Meet Nebuchadnezzar - Schmoe - 07-19-2024 How long did it take for him to just become "Neb"? No way I'm doing all 5 syllables every time I yell at him RE: Meet Nebuchadnezzar - NightskyeB4Dawn - 07-19-2024 (07-19-2024, 04:42 AM)Schmoe Wrote: How long did it take for him to just become "Neb"? No way I'm doing all 5 syllables every time I yell at him My sister started calling him Bad Baby because he is so playful and mischievous. On too frequent occasions it goes from Bad Baby, to Bad Ass Baby. When he is sweet and endearing, we call him Neb. Which is not that often. Most of the time he is in trouble or looking to get into trouble, which draws a full name call, or a calling out. So he is either being called a full and cautionary Nebuchadnezzar, Bad Baby, or Bad Ass Baby. He rarely earns the call of a sweet short Neb. Angelic he is not. He falls somewhere between a Sheldon and a Dennis the Menace. He is the baby, gotta love him. RE: Meet Nebuchadnezzar - NightskyeB4Dawn - 08-18-2024 Bad Ass Baby used up a few of his lives last night. He dragged himself home this morning, eight minutes before I would have left for church. He was covered in sand from the tip of his head to the tip of his tail. I had to bathe him. It was then that I realized that all his blackness was embellished by a ton of black sand and dirt as well. While drying him off, I could see something had grabbed him by the head. Patches of fur missing about the head, and scratches about both ears and the nape of the neck. I came home from church to find him in the same exact position I left him in. I picked him up and he is cuddling in my lap as I send this post. I hope he learned his lesson about sneaking out. Sylvester and Enoch are smart enough to come in at night. They will go out, but stayed close to the house, and Sylvester won't even hang on the porch once that sun starts to go down. Nebuchadnezzar wants to play Bad Ass, and brave the night. I will have to wait and see if he learned anything after last night's near miss. RE: Meet Nebuchadnezzar - NightskyeB4Dawn - 08-18-2024 Now that Nebuchadnezzar has had some time to rest, I have found a lot more battle scars on him. He is limping on his right front leg. Found four more scratches to right leg, neck and head. It looks like he had a fight for his life with a bird of prey. An owl, eagle, or hawk. Weighed him. He is still only 9 pounds, and the birds out here are pretty big. Depending on the bird, they can carry 1.4 to 3 times their weight. I think if he got caught by a coyote or dog his injuries would have looked a lot different. His injuries are mostly around his head and neck, with a few to his right leg and front right side. Only other things I think it could be is an otter, especially since he was once big mud ball. Probably the fight was out at the pond. So far he had shown no interest in going on the porch. And he is like a lightening flash trying to get on the porch or outdoors, the moment he hears the door open. But not today. I pray he learned his lesson. He can't have too many lives left. RE: Meet Nebuchadnezzar - NightskyeB4Dawn - 09-26-2024 Yeah! Nebuchadnezzar gained a whole pound! He is now 10 pounds. Enoch is 21. Sylvester is 20. I don't think he is ever going to get above 12 pounds, if he gets that far. He still eats twice as much as Sylvester and Enoch put together. I think he is a little more secure in his meals. He will leave his bowl to clean up Sylvester's and Enoch's. He will the come back later to finish off his food. He is still a Bad Ass Baby. And loves getting into mischief.
