John Atkinson Grimshaw (1836–1893) was a British Victorian-era painter best known for his atmospheric and poetic nocturnal scenes. He had a remarkable ability to capture the quiet beauty of moonlit streets, misty docks, and autumnal evenings, often set in industrial cities like Leeds, Liverpool, and London.

Though self-taught, Grimshaw developed a distinctive style that blended Romanticism with photographic realism. His paintings often depict gaslit streets, wet cobblestones reflecting light, and elegant Victorian houses under the soft glow of the moon. These works evoke a sense of mystery, solitude, and timeless stillness.

Grimshaw’s mastery of light and shadow made him one of the most unique and admired painters of his time. His work continues to captivate modern audiences with its haunting beauty and delicate mood.

Out of curiosity, I asked AI for the approximate value of these magnificent works, and this was the response:

Typical auction prices:
- Smaller or less significant works: around $20,000 to $80,000
- Medium-sized works: typically $100,000 to $300,000
- Major masterpieces (especially famous night scenes): can sell for $500,000 or more.

One of his important paintings sold for over £700,000 (around $800,000 USD) at a Sotheby’s auction in London.

May 3, 1715: (or April 22, since this was before Britain adopted the Gregorian calendar) London was plunged into darkness during a total solar eclipse. It was known as Halley's Eclipse, after Edmond Halley, who had predicted this eclipse to within 4 minutes accuracy. Halley observed the eclipse from London where the city of London enjoyed 3 minutes 33 seconds of totality.

‘The like Eclipse having not for many ages been seen in the Southern Parts of Great Britain, I thought it not improper to give the Publick an Account thereof, that the sudden darkness, wherein the Starrs will be visible about the Sun, may give no surprize to the People, who would, if unadvertized, be apt to look upon it as Ominous and to interpret it as portending evill to our Sovereign Lord King George and his Government, which God preserve...’

— Edmond Halley, 1715.

Bill Gates wants to make totality permanent.

"All of these astral exponents who invoke human consciousness may be sincere, but many of their theses may be framed to propagate some special phantasm, perhaps of an earlier incarnation, or to indulge an inveterate and continuing technological urge toward materialistic progress, or simply to astonish and disturb the gullible for the devil of it."

- RAF Air Marshal Sir Robert Victor Goddard, public lecture at Caxton Hall in London, May 3, 1969. Quoted from - John Keel, Operation Trojan Horse, 1970.

Continuing from Keel's book:
Quote:Sir Victor’s remarks are, admittedly, even harder to believe than the claims of the various UFO cults. If you are not familiar with the massive, well documented occult and religious literature, his words may be incomprehensible to you. In essence, he means that the UFO phenomenon is actually a staggering cosmic put-on: a joke perpetrated by invisible entities who have always delighted in frightening, confusing and misleading the human race. The activities of these entities have been carefully recorded throughout history, and we will be leaning heavily on those historical records in this book.

What do you know...

The UK intelligence agencies and counter-terrorism police say they foil countless terror plots. It's just that you never hear about them. Yet, a tiny handful of these "terror plot" investigations are widely reported. Strange isn't it.

Quote:Four Iranians among five arrested in UK over alleged terror plot (May 3, 2025)

(CNN)  — British counter-terrorism police have arrested five men, including four Iranian nationals, on suspicion of planning a terrorist act, a statement from London’s Metropolitan Police said on Sunday.

The investigation relates to a suspected plot to target a specific location, according to the statement, which added that the men were arrested during raids at a number of addresses across the country on Saturday.

“This is a fast-moving investigation and we are working closely with those at the affected site to keep them updated,” said Commander Dominic Murphy, head of the Met’s Counter Terrorism Command.

The Met Police have not said which site was the target of the alleged attack. It said the men were arrested in the Greater Manchester and London areas, as well as in the southern town of Swindon.

“The investigation is still in its early stages and we are exploring various lines of enquiry to establish any potential motivation as well as to identify whether there may be any further risk to the public linked to this matter,” said Murphy.

Four of the men are Iranian nationals, ranging in age from 29 to 46, and have been detained under Britain’s Terrorism Act, the police statement said. The nationality of the fifth man, whose age was not provided, was still being established and the Met statement said he had instead been detained under the Police and Criminal Evidence Act.

All five remain in police custody.

“We understand the public may be concerned and as always, I would ask them to remain vigilant and if they see or hear anything that concerns them, then to contact us,” Murphy said.

Additional details of the suspects arrests:

A 29-year-old man arrested in the Swindon area
A 46-year-old man arrested in west London
A 29-year-old man arrested in the Stockport area
A 40-year-old man arrested in the Rochdale area
A man (age to be confirmed) arrested in the Manchester area

This is a developing story and will be updated.

The media never touches what they didn't help create and control. Rather simple.

In the attached image (top) is this done in the style of traditional Soviet propaganda posters?

Grok: Yes, the image adopts elements of traditional Soviet propaganda poster style. It features bold colors, a heroic central figure, strong lines, and a clear ideological message ("100% Operational Control"). However, the American flag and modern context (e.g., "DRUGS" sign) diverge from Soviet themes, adapting the style to a Western narrative.

Why can't we get some original tasty propaganda. I guess DOD contracted out to Hollywood and no longer using real human illustrators.

Nixon’s China move opened global markets, not a trapdoor. We weren’t ripped off...we were auctioned off by big American corporate interest groups & Int'l banking cartel. Granted China did some sneaky backroom deals. America is the big consumer while China became the big producer which our parasite politicians allowed it to happen. After pres Bill Clinton allowed China into the World Trade Organization (WTO) it was all downhill from there. Why do they (US gov't involved in trade relations with China) allow cheap Chinese junk to be imported by the mega container loads, which killed the American small business owners? The only people that benefited are those like the Walmart family and of course kickbacks for the politicians. Now, 25 years later the balance is so far off I think the good ole days are long gone. I think I understand Trump's vision for America, but it's too late, about 20 years too late. The $8 trillion 20-year war in Afghanistan didn't help, but it sure did help China. Look at the dominant empires of the past 600 years and what happened to each one? Why you think Trump is so headstrong on AI and Crypto? Any gold in the Fort Knox octagon? Where ya think we are headed now?

On the brighter side, Temu (Chinese e-commerce company) has announced it will no longer ship products directly from China to U.S. customers. This change is a direct result of the U.S. government ending the de minimis exemption, which previously allowed low-value packages (under $800) to enter the U.S. duty-free. Instead, Temu will now fulfill orders from U.S.-based warehouses...while figuring out how to recalibrate their business model without de minimis loopholes. TEMU is well-known of cheap junk.

De minimis changes have NOT BEEN ROLLED BACK. There is a new process in place specific to formerly de minimis qualified shipments from China and Hong Kong.

There's a lot of confusion around the changes to de minimis entries and my understanding is broken down like so:

De minimis rules had(!) two defining characteristics:

1. No formal entry if declared commercial value is under $2500

2. No duties, tariffs, or other fees paid when clearing customs if value is under $800 - THIS is the key attribute of a de minimis qualified shipment.

Regarding formal entry - there have been no changes to this, because it's a separate policy altogether. HOWEVER, even an informal entry requires a declared commercial value and a completed CBP Form 3461. "Informal entry" just means the importer has to provide less information and any fees owed are collected directly by the carrier at time of shipment release to the importer (instead of by CBP and Treasury). The rules governing this process are codified in Title 19 CFR § 143.24.

The major change is to the second part - shipments under $800. All shipments imported to the US, regardless of value, are now subject to duties and fees.

Here's how this breaks down, per CBP's Federal Register Notice (2025-07325, 90 FR 17608):

1. Shipments carried by express/courier/freight forwarders (the vast majority of this category) are now subject to a 120% ad valorem duty assessed based on the declared value.

2. Shipments carried as postal items will receive a specific duty regardless of value of $100 until June 1, which then increases to $200.

3. The carriers must calculate, collect, and remit to CBP/Treasury all duties and fees owed.

4. This is a specific new rule applying just to shipments from China and Hong Kong. Previous de minimis rules still apply to other countries of origin.

IEEPA (International Emergency Economic Powers Act) and Section 301 are national security sanctions, not so much about trade. China will need to capitulate on a range of larger issues such as spying, stealing tech, farmland grabs, fentanyl ingredients, South China Sea, before any tariff step downs will occur. That's not going to happen soon or fast.

May 5, 1973: American super horse Secretariat known as Big Red won the Kentucky Derby in a record time of 1:59.4, that has never been surpassed. Secretariat went on to win the coveted Triple Crown of the Kentucky Derby, the Belmont Stakes and the Preakness Stakes.

In the fall of 1989, Secretariat became afflicted with laminitis—a painful and debilitating hoof condition. When his condition failed to improve after a month of treatment, he was euthanized on October 4 at the age of 19. Secretariat was buried at Claiborne Farm, near his sire, Bold Ruler, in a small graveyard behind the office at the farm. He was given the rare honor of being buried whole (traditionally only the head, heart, and hooves of a winning race horse are buried). His best offspring, Risen Star, won the Preakness and Belmont Stakes in 1988.

Research indicates that the female X chromosome is responsible for the large hearts found in outstanding racehorses

Every horse that raced in the 2025 Kentucky Derby is a descendant of Secretariat. So far nobody has been able to produce anything close to the performance of super-stud Big Red. I guess God has so ordered, there can only be ONE.

On the sixth day (May 5, 1980), God sent the British Special Air Service (SAS) on "Operation Nimrod" to rescue the remaining hostages, rappelling from the roof and forcing entry through the windows. During the 17-minute raid they rescued all but one of the remaining hostages and killed five of the six hostage-takers. An inquest cleared the SAS of any wrongdoing. The sole remaining gunman served 27 years in prison in Britain. In the public eye, the SAS became legends, however, they were already legends from WWII (super bad asses) but that had been forgotten till this day in 1980 and afterword portrayed in novels to Hollywood films and Tom Clancy to video games to Paddy Mayne in SAS Rogue Heroes (2022-25 series).

RE: Meme Scholar with Madness (PhD) - EndtheMadnessNow - 05-06-2025

At first it was believed that merely moving Islamic radicals to the West would "fix" them. Experience showed this was not enough. Techniques from the study of punishment of crime and of prison management including disengagement and behavioral change therapies were attempted, with little success. Radical Islam is a gang culture.

The first pass was "disengagement" - severing association with the parent gang. For this to work, Islamic radicals must be scattered or they will reconnect. Moving millions from Gaza to Egypt will not achieve disengagement.

Deradicalization is much harder to achieve than disengagement, because it involves recanting beliefs through intense long term social engineering. However if the beliefs are actually part of Islamic faith the recantation goal becomes impossible. With mosques everywhere in Egypt this may be unachievable.

Gaza is a classic ancient siege involving the encirclement of a target area to cut off supplies, communication, and movement, aiming to weaken or force the surrender of those inside through starvation, deprivation, demoralization as a prelude to clearing operations.

The question is who will take the refugees. Egypt has refused. Jordan, home to over 2 million Palestinian refugees, has rejected accepting any more. Note how Jordan has been very quiet since the collapse & take-over of Syria last December. Most Arab and Muslim-majority countries, including Qatar, Turkey, Algeria, Kuwait, and Malaysia, have refused. This leaves the West.

The problem with sending the refugees to Egypt is they will hook up with the Muslim Brotherhood and topple Abdel Fattah el-Sisi (President of Egypt). Egypt could turn into "Hamas on steroids" and require a thermonuclear package to eliminate. Egypt’s crackdown on Sinai insurgents (2014–2016) and destruction of Gaza-Sinai tunnels reflect this concern.

The Egyptians fear the Palestinians so much they built a "Kong Wall" on the border with Gaza. The Muslim world figures the only safe place to store Hamas is in Israel, the only army on the planet willing & capable to deal with them.

How far will it go in Gaza? One of the few documented accounts of human desperation were the attempts by German civilians and SS, including Martin Bormann to break out of Berlin over the Weidendammer Bridge. Thousands trampled over the dead in panic. The remaining tanks, half-tracks, motely units mixed with civilians repeatedly surged over the Weidendammer into Soviet machine guns, wrecking the dying underfoot, the blazing vehicles in the last spasm of madness. Gaza has the potential to be a "medieval" Weidendammer bloodbath.

Berlin, May 2, 1945 - The Tragedy on the Weidendammer Bridge (well researched docu with lots of archived photos & maps)

Judging by the comments, apparently many Germans have never heard of this tragedy.

Despite 18 months of carpet bombing, fierce fire fights, artillery barrages, drone & missile strikes the Hamas still retain power in that tiny strip of contested land...

Hamas has executed six Palestinians in Gaza and shot 13 others in the legs for alleged looting ... said it would carry out more executions against “every criminal we can reach in the next two days.” CNN appears to be the only western media source reporting on this "recent" event while the near same event was reported from multiple sources back in March & January.
Google interprets "six Palestinians" as six hostages.

It's all over, except for the shouting. Tom Cotton's pessimistic view of US competition with China.

The China Threat Is Worse Than You Can Imagine

For a country to survive 250 years is no mean feat in the face of history. To survive over 3,000 years is something only a few cultures have ever achieved. It has become fashionable to believe that nothing is settled by force. But the map of the world was drawn, almost without exception, by force of arms. Just ask the Tibetans or the Kurds.

"Violence, naked force, has settled more issues in history than has any other factor, and the contrary opinion is wishful thinking at its worst. Breeds that forget this basic truth have always paid for it with their lives and their freedoms."

Quote:Things were getting desperate for D.C. when he hit upon the idea of subdividing some of his land and selling it as housing lots.[20] This was strange idea in the early 1970s because of the remoteness of the area. All that was here then were struggling farms and some very small mining operations, and Union Carbide had not yet reactivated the mine. Why would anyone buy land so far from civilization? Ed Gunderson on the other side of the valley had tried the same without much luck, but D.C. fared better owing to his better location. Ed and Laura Fallis were the first to buy land in the subdivision, then Union Carbide reopened the Lincoln Mine around 1976, and D.C.'s struggling subdivision, being the closest private land, promised to become a real town.

Union Carbide was a difficult neighbor, however. When it became clear that the mine would be reopened, that's when D.C. says the harassment began.[21] State inspectors from Las Vegas and Carson City descended on D.C.'s tiny subdivision and started to find fault where there had been none before. One inspector forced a new landowner to cap off his well and fill it with concrete because he had drilled it himself and not used a licensed drilling company, even though the well itself was sound.[22] Another inspector demanded that D.C. rip up all the PVC piping he had installed to supply water in his new trailer park because the law only required a lower quality piping.[23] "Every time we turned a shovel of dirt up out here they'd try to stop us." says D.C.

"We could never prove it," he says[24], "but Union Carbide had started a subdivision in Alamo. They wanted their employees to buy or live in Alamo... I sold some land in the subdivision to a friend of mine down at Alamo and they told him, `If you buy land down in Penoyer Valley, look for another job.'"

May 7, 2010: Iron Man 2 was released... Elon Musk’s cameo.

"As the only remaining superpower, the United States will be wise to resist being drawn into any military intervention on the short end of public support or lacking a clear threat to our own national security. But even a leader able to whip up sentiment for "sending in the Marines" will find it dicey to undertake any prolonged struggle leading to significant casualties. New technologies will focus increasingly on developing non-manned fighting machines by using reliable drones, robotics, and self-propelled vehicles. As we proved in Desert Storm, the technology now exists to preprogram computerized combat missions with tremendous accuracy so that our stealth fighters could fly by computer program precisely to their targets over Iraq. A stealthy drone is clearly the next step, and I anticipate that we are heading toward a future where combat aircraft will be pilotless drones. On the ground and at sea as well, remote-controlled tanks and missile launchers and unmanned computer-programmed submarines and missile frigates will provide the military advantage to those possessing the most imaginative and reliable electronics and avionics. Field commanders can conduct battles and actually aim and fire weapons systems from the safety of control centers thousands of miles away — their targets sighted by the high-powered lenses aboard drone surveillance aircraft which they remotely control. This is not a Buck Rogers scenario; this is around the corner. Tomorrow's most prized military breakthrough may be in the form of a dazzlingly new and powerful microchip.

The Skunk Works has always been perched at the cutting edge. More than half a dozen times over the past fifty years of cold war we have managed to create breakthroughs in military aircraft or weapons systems that tipped the strategic balance of power for a decade or longer, because our adversaries could not duplicate or counter what we had created. That must continue to be our role into the next century, if we are to preserve what we have accomplished and be prepared for the hazards as well as the opportunities for the uncharted, risky future."

May 8, 2025: Habemus Papam! We have a Pope! A 69 year-old American Pope. The first Pope from both North America and the United States. Chicago born.

- Augustinian Order
- Registered Republican
- Opposes female deacons
- Wears traditional garments
- Openly critical of Western decline

His father, Louis Marius Prevost was a US Navy veteran of World War II and school administrator.

Previous Pope Leo was Gioacchino Vincenzo Raffaele Luigi Pecci from 1878–1903.
April 20, 1884: Pope Leo XIII publishes the encyclical Humanum genus, condemning Freemasonry.

Pope Leo XIII, stood firm against the tide of socialism. In 1891, he wrote Rerum Novarum, one of the Church’s clearest defenses of family, faith, and free society. He stood up for the truth and warned of the misery that follows collectivist ideology.

In the 2024 film, Cabrini, Pope Leo XIII is depicted by Giancarlo Giannini in several scenes offering his support to Mother Cabrini for her mission in the United States in 1889 and thereafter.

His follower account has suddenly risen. Good, bad, somewhere in between? Who knows. time will tell.

During his 40-year career, Bass worked for some of Hollywood's most prominent filmmakers, including Alfred Hitchcock, Otto Preminger, Billy Wilder, Stanley Kubrick, and Martin Scorsese. Among his best known title sequences are the animated paper cut-out of a heroin addict's arm for Preminger's The Man with the Golden Arm, the credits racing up and down what eventually becomes a high-angle shot of a skyscraper in Hitchcock's North by Northwest, and the disjointed text that races together and apart in Psycho.

Xi Jinping wrote an article in Russian newspaper Rossiyskaya Gazeta ahead of his 4-day trip to Russia (he does this whenever he visits a country).

Chinese Xi Jinping: “Lessons of the Past for the Future”

Xi also naturally has some words on the China-Russia relationship which he characterizes a force preserving the world from hegemony: "China and Russia are significant powers that make a constructive contribution to maintaining global strategic stability and improving global governance. The world needs justice, not hegemony."

He precises that "China-Russia relations [...] are not directed against third parties" but that they are a "strategic link in promoting the multipolarity of the world and forming a community with a common future for mankind."

He also warns that China-Russia relations aren't "subject to [the] influence [of third parties]", probably a reference to talks of American attempts to effect a so-called "reverse Kissinger."

China is positioning itself as the defender of the post-WWII international order against "hegemonic" forces, casting the United States as the revisionist power. And the U.S. is increasingly obliging, validating China's arguments.

It's a very Daoist "wu-wei" (effortless action) approach: rather than directly confronting American power, China is harnessing the present momentum and redirecting it, achieving goals through alignment with existing forces rather than through direct opposition. What emerges is an incremental transformation: China doesn't need to overthrow the international order when it can simply outlast American commitment to it.

Soviet soldiers outside the Reichstag, Berlin, 1945. They are scouts of the 756th Rifle Regiment, who raised the victory banner on Reichstag.

Raising a Flag over the Reichstag by Yevgeny Khaldei. Taken during the Battle of Berlin (2 May 1945), the photograph became symbolic of Victory Day (9 May 1945) The photo was published 13 May 1945 in the Ogonyok magazine.

Iconic Red Army Reichstag Photo Faked  (Der Spiegel International)

Quote:Our Fatherland, taking on the main blow of Germany, for three years essentially one opposed the Hitler bloc. Until the summer of 1944, when the second front was opened in Europe, 70 to 75% of all enemy divisions operated on the Soviet-German front, the vast majority of all German military equipment of Germany and its allies. The Soviet Union played a major role in their defeat. It was here that the outcome of the Second World War was decided. The Soviet Armed Forces defeated 507 fascist divisions and 100 divisions of the Allies of Germany - almost 3.5 times more than on all other fronts of the Second World War. The armed forces of Germany lost on the Soviet-German front more than 70 thousand aircraft (about 70% of the total number of aircraft lost in the war), about 50 thousand tanks and assault guns (up to 75%), 167 thousand artillery (74%), more than 2500 different ships and auxiliary vessels.

What determined the victorious outcome of this war for the USSR?

The victory was made possible thanks to the monolithic nature of our multinational state. At the cost of their own life, the feats of Russian Yuri Smirnov, Ukrainian Viktor Ilchenko, Tatar Musa Jalil, Armenian Georgy Kolozoyan, Said Aliyev from Dagestan and many others were included in the price of their own life.

Saving their comrades, more than 300 soldiers repeated the feat of Alexander Matrosov, closing with their bodies the embrasure of enemy bunkers. The truly indestructible strength of spirit moved the pilots of Nikolai Gastello, Viktor Talalikhin and their comrades who are deliberately going to sacrifice.

Fighting in the forests of Belarus and in the steppes of Ukraine, in the snow-capped Arctic and on the banks of the Volga, each of them defended their land, his city and village, its aul and a village, his home and family.

When in Christian art the abbreviation of four letters is combined with the cross of Jesus, would there possibly be four elements?

In Hebrew, the four elements are:

1. Iammim = water
2. Nour = fire
3. Rouach = air or energy
4. Iebeschah = Earth, land

If one thinks the word Christ means a higher level of consciousness than a person, the use of the abbreviation INRI in connection with Jesus is perfectly understandable. In esoteric doctrines, the union of the four elements gives rise to the Fifth Element, Quintessence (or Aether), also called Christ Consciousness, or simply "spirit."

However, the Marines welcomed the Tootsie Rolls because the candy provided a much-need energy boost. They also found that Tootsie Rolls were useful for plugging bullet holes in their equipment.

Guy McAfee, who was credited with being the first to call Las Vegas Blvd "the Strip," opened the Frontier Club on Fremont St in downtown Las Vegas, NV on May 11, 1939 (or the evening of May 10). "Ladies welcome." Guy was a serious piece of work!

Guy Alexander McAfee (August 19, 1888 – February 20, 1960) was an American law enforcement officer and businessman. Born in Kansas and orphaned in early childhood, he became a firefighter in Los Angeles, California, and later served as the head of the vice squad of the Los Angeles Police Department. He was the owner of brothels and gambling saloons, with ties to organized crime in the 1930s. He co-founded casinos in Las Vegas, Nevada, in the 1940s and 1950s.

His nicknames were "Slats," for his height and build, and "the Whistler," because when he was on what was then called the purity squad, he would warn vice dens by calling them up and whistling a certain tune while feigning for his police compatriots that there was no answer. Reformers called him the "Capone of LA". His associates included Charlie Crawford, slot-machine king Bob Gans, political fixer Kent Parrot, Zeke Caress, Tutor Scherer, Farmer Page, Charles Cradick, Chuck Addison, and Tony Cornero. When Judge Fletcher Bowron was elected as the 38th Mayor of Los Angeles on a platform to rid Los Angeles of prostitution, gambling and narcotics in 1938, McAfee moved to Las Vegas, Nevada, within a year.

McAfee was a co-founder of the unincorporated place of Paradise, Nevada, near Las Vegas. It was established as a tax shelter for casinos.

McAfee resided at the Biltmore Hotel, a luxury hotel in Downtown Los Angeles. He was married three times. With his first wife Eva, he had a daughter, Alice. He married his second wife, actress June Brewster (born Kathleen Anderson) in 1936. She filed for divorce in 1941. His third wife, Kathleen, was the owner of a brothel in Los Angeles. He adopted her daughter, Kathleen Elizabeth McAfee.

Offerings for king Trump, a 'Palace In The Sky' 747 Jumbo Jet from the Royal Family Of Qatar.

Quote:President Trump is set to receive a “flying palace” Boeing 747-8 jumbo jet from Qatar’s royal family, which he will use as Air Force One, according to a report.

Trump, 78, intends to use the aircraft — called the most luxurious private jet in the world — as an interim presidential jet while Boeing completes the next-generation Air Force One fleet following years of frustrating delays and cost overruns.

The jumbo jet, valued at $400 million, will potentially be transferred to the Trump presidential library foundation when the president leaves office, sources told ABC News.

The Republican leader appeared to confirm that he will accept the plane in a Truth Social post Sunday night in which he called Democrats “World Class Losers” for criticizing the arrangement.

“So the fact that the Defense Department is getting a GIFT, FREE OF CHARGE, of a 747 aircraft to replace the 40 year old Air Force One, temporarily, in a very public and transparent transaction, so bothers the Crooked Democrats that they insist we pay, TOP DOLLAR, for the plane,” he wrote.

“Anybody can do that! The Dems are World Class Losers!!! MAGA.”

The president is heading to the Middle East this week for his second foreign trip of his second term, and will swing through Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates.

Officials are expected to unveil the plans during Trump’s stop in Qatar, according to the report.

Qatar rejected characterization in reports that the plane will be a gift to Trump before the president’s social media post.

“Reports that a jet is being gifted by Qatar to the United States government during the upcoming visit of President Trump are inaccurate,” Ali Al-Ansari, Qatar’s media attaché to the US, told The Post.

“The possible transfer of an aircraft for temporary use as Air Force One is currently under consideration between Qatar’s Ministry of Defense and the US Department of Defense, but the matter remains under review by the respective legal departments, and no decision has been made.”

Trump previously toured the luxurious plane at West Palm Beach International Airport in February.

Over recent weeks, the Trump administration tapped defense contractor L3Harris to tune up the Boeing 747, which had previously been used by Qatar’s royal family, the Wall Street Journal reported.

Trump wants the aircraft ready as early as the fall, according to the Journal.

The news reports sparked outrage from Democrats, including Bronx Rep. Ritchie Torres (D-NY), who expressed “alarm” in a complaint to the acting inspector general and related government agencies.

“Just as troubling as the gift itself is the identity of the benefactor,” Torres said in the letter obtained by The Post.

“Qatar is not a neutral party on the world stage. It has a deeply troubling history of financing a barbaric terrorist organization that has blood on its hands. In the cruelest irony, Air Force One will have something in common with Hamas: paid for by Qatar.”

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) also blasted the Trump administration.

“Nothing says ‘America First’ like Air Force One, brought to you by Qatar,” the New York pol tweeted. “It’s not just bribery, it’s a premium foreign influence with extra legroom.”

US Sen. Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) decried the potential deal as “just wildly illegal” before following up with another social media post.

“But even if it’s not a done deal yet, the fact giving Trump a jet is ‘under consideration’ tells you all you need to know about what countries are being told they need to do to be an ally with America under Trump,” Murphy also tweeted.

During his first term, the Trump administration awarded Boeing a $3.9 billion contract in 2018 to produce two new presidential planes for use as Air Force One. That project is not set to be completed until 2029, according to an estimate from Boeing last year.

At the moment, the US has two old Boeing 747-200 jumbo jets for Air Force One — the designation for any airplane that the president is on — which have been in operation since the 1990s.

Air Force One jets have to be equipped with state-of-the-art communications and defensive systems to protect the commander-in-chief, which makes its development expensive and complicated.

Some military officials had been hoping to add a third jet to the fleet as a backup for maintenance purposes.

The president was personally involved in designing the color scheme of the next-generation Air Force One planes and handling some fine points of the negotiation, frequently crowing about how he pushed the price down.

That project has since been hit with a series of delays and cost overruns.

Tech baron Elon Musk reportedly got involved in the Trump administration’s efforts to figure out what to do about Boeing’s delays and struggles to produce the next generation of Air Force One.

Ahead of unveiling the plan for Qatar’s “flying palace,” the Trump administration has assessed potential legal fallout, according to ABC.

The Constitution stipulates that “No Person holding any Office of Profit or Trust under them, shall, without the Consent of the Congress, accept of any present, Emolument.”

Attorney General Pam Bondi and top White House lawyer David Warrington looked into the matter and concluded the plan is “legally permissible,” ABC News reported.

They concluded that receiving the plane is aboveboard because it is not being given to the president conditioned on an official act.

Quote:I don't have much of an opinion yet about Qatar's donation of a luxuriously appointed decommissioned 747 to the United States to serve as a temporary Air Force One.

The story, as with so many these days, is murky because everybody has an ideological axe to grind and is spinning so furiously that I am getting nauseous from dizziness. When the truth emerges from the fog of rhetoric, I expect I will have an opinion about that and it may or may not be worth commenting on it.

The scandal buried in the Qatar/Air Force One story that is easy to understand is about Boeing, which apparently is unable to deliver on its 2018 contract to deliver two refurbished 747s by 2024. Their current timeline suggests that they MAY be able to deliver them 11 years late in 2035.

2035. The last time Boeing delivered modified 747s under the first Bush administration it took about 3 years from start to finish, not 17 years.

What do they think they are building? A space capsule or something? Come to think of it, Boeing can't do that either.

L3Harris, the same company Boeing has contracted to install the "complicated wiring" in their Air Force One replacements, is going to modify the former Qatari jet sometime this fall, doing in months what Boeing says it can't do in over a decade.

Granted, Boeing's task is somewhat more complicated than L3Harris'. I assume they will be installing more than communications gear into their replacement versions. But modifying two 747s, unless they are replacing the engines with perpetual motion machines, shouldn't take as long as designing and building a modern fighter aircraft from start to finish.

The planes are built, for God's sake. The air force can rebuild a fighter jet from two that CRASHED in less than three years, which seems pretty complicated to me.

ou can't tell me that the Air Force can do that in two and a half years, but that Boeing needs 17 to install wiring and make modest modifications to already built 747s.

I wouldn't want to say that Boeing's inability to do relatively basic things is a bigger scandal than any deal Trump may have made with Qatar, but it surely is more significant when it comes to the health of our nation's economy and defense infrastructure. Boeing is a key player in the American economy and will be building our next generation of fighter jets.

We better hope that they don't treat that contract the same way they have Starliner or Air Force One.

Netanyahu fully drops the mask & gloves...

Quote:“We are demolishing more and more houses, they have nowhere to return to ... The only logical outcome would be the desire of the Gazans to emigrate abroad. Our main problem is finding countries willing to receive them,” Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said last week while speaking to Israel's Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee.

For the first time, Netanyahu told the committee, while referring to the plan to distribute humanitarian aid in Gaza, that receiving the aid would be contingent on the non-return of Gazans who receive it to the places from which they would arrive at the aid distribution sites. The explanation: In the places from which they came, they are mixed with Hamas members.

No country has yet agreed to accept forcibly displaced Palestinians under this plan, though discussions are reportedly ongoing.

Qatar and Egypt, key mediators in the talks, praised Hamas's decision as a step toward restarting negotiations and addressing the humanitarian crisis. Witkoff has also held indirect talks with Iran in Oman, indicating broader diplomatic engagement is underway.

U.S. top 20 for May 12, 1973. A great top 20 because it begins with "Tie A Yellow Ribbon" and ends with "Walk on the Wild Side."

May 12, 1986: TOP GUN premiered in NYC. One of the definitive 1980s action films, and among the most popular of its star, Tom Cruise.

In 1983, California Magazine published an article detailing the life of U.S. Airforce pilots at the Miramar base. Hollywood producers Jerry Bruckheimer and Don Simpson thought it had the basis for a great movie, and Paramount Pictures agreed to fund the film.

Having been turned down by numerous screenwriters, Bruckheimer and Simpson hired writing team Jim Cash and Jack Epps Jr. to pen a screenplay. For research, the writers attended several Top Gun classes and flew in an F-14 Tomcat.

To play the lead role of Pete ‘Maverick’ Mitchell, Scott approached Matthew Modine, but he said no. Other young stars were considered, including John Travolta, Patrick Swayze, and Sean Penn. Reportedly, none of them were interested. Having successfully led Risky Business, the producers then turned to Tom Cruise. He wasn’t sure, until he was taken into the air by US Navy flight squad, The Blue Angels. Bruckheimer said as soon as they landed, Cruise said “I’m doing the movie. I love it, this is great.”

Cruise’s salary for the film was a reported $1 million – way more than anything he’d earned to that point. He’d also never ridden a motorbike before the film, and was taught at the House of Motorcycles in California.

In prep, Cruise went up in an F-14 with Lt Cmdr Lloyd ‘Bozo’ Abel. On their first trip, Bozo pulled a move resulting in Cruise reaching for the sick bag. Cruise said, "Didn't you see I wasn't in your mirror?" Bozo replied "Sorry, they don't call me 'Bozo' for nothing."

Some well-known young actresses were considered for Maverick’s love interest, Charlie Blackwood, including Ally Sheedy, Brooke Shields and Debra Winger. Instead, after being impressed by her performance in Witness, the filmmakers hired Kelly McGillis. At 5’10”, McGillis was three inches taller than Cruise. As such, he was asked to wear lifts in his shoes in the scenes where they had to stand close to one another. The final scene in the bar was reportedly filmed with McGillis standing in a trench.

Val Kilmer reportedly didn’t want to play Iceman. In his words, he "felt the script was silly and disliked warmongering films." However, he was under contract with the studio so legally bound to accept the part. Kilmer did later say "It was a blast and an education", though he and Cruise didn’t get on during filming. Kilmer later said he would play up Maverick and Iceman’s on-screen friction on the set, which rubbed Cruise up the wrong way. They later became friends, though.

The first person considered to play Top Gun CO Viper was Jon Voight, before Tom Skerritt was cast. And Michael Ironside (Jester) said he was so convincing in the role that real navy sailors would salute him on the deck.

Originally, Maverick’s first name was Evan. It was changed to Pete as an homage to US fighter pilot Pete Pettigrew. Pettigrew worked on the film as a consultant, and appears in the bar scene early on as Charlie's male date.

Charlie is largely based on Christine Fox, a civilian flight instructor the producers met when researching the film. Fox was tall, blonde, wore heels, and had the callsign ‘Legs’. She retired as Deputy Secretary of Defense, the highest post ever held by a woman at the time.

The Pentagon charged Paramount a reported $1.8m to use their planes and aircraft carriers. And the DOD insisted on some script changes, including changing the manner of Goose’s death from a midair collision, as they wanted the film to work as a recruitment tool. Also, Charlie was changed from being a service member to a civilian because Navy regulations prohibit officers and enlisted personnel from having sexual relationships, as Charlie and Maverick do.

The score was written by German composer Harold Faltermeyer - the first to be recorded on the Synclavier digital synthesizer. An official release of Faltermeyer's score for the film has never been done. The soundtrack is mostly known for its pop songs, mainly Take My Breath Away. Giorgio Moroder wrote most of the music, and Tom Whitlock wrote most of the lyrics. Whitlock reportedly became involved as he was Moroder’s mechanic. Moroder had written Danger Zone for Jefferson Starship, but they were unavailable. Toto and REO Speedwagon were both considered, before Kenny Loggins was hired to perform it.

There was tragedy during production when stunt pilot Art Scholl was killed, aged 54. He died when his camera plane failed to recover from a spin and plunged into the Pacific. The film is dedicated to him.

For the opening, Scott wanted to shoot aircraft taking off from carrier, back-lit by the sun. The captain had changed course though, and the cost of turning the ship was $25k. Scott wrote the captain a $25k to get the shot and, according to Scott, the check bounced.

The scene where Goose sings Great Balls Of Fire wasn’t in the script, Scott had been listening to Jerry Lee Lewis that morning and added it in. It was shot in a San Diego restaurant called Kansas City BBQ which still houses the piano and one of Maverick’s helmets.

Paramount paid Grunman, the makers of the F-14, to install special camera mounts on the planes. And it cost the studio $10,000 per hour every time they went up to film an F-14.

The F-14 pilot who performed the inverted stunt was Captain Scott Douglas "Scooter" Altman. He performed all of Maverick’s stunt flying for the film, and went on to become a NASA astronaut flying on four missions. The MiG pilot was Admiral Robert Willard, the flight choreographer for the film.

A relationship Maverick had with an Admiral’s daughter is mentioned several times in the film. The character is called Penny Benjamin and, though we never see her in the film, she was a main character in Top Gun: Maverick, played by Jennifer Connelly.

The Navy authorized two actual missile shots to be filmed. They were both filmed from several different angles so they could be re-used again and again. So every time we see a missile launched in a dogfight, it is one of those two moments. The climactic dogfight features the Top Gun cadets up against a group of unspecified MiGs. The original script stated they were North Korean, but this was removed from the final film.

The ‘buzzing the tower’ moment was filmed for real. The stunt pilots drew straws as they all wanted to do it, and it was won by Bozo Abel. Michael Ironside (Jester) was there when it was filmed and said it was one of the most spectacular things he ever saw.

At the time the film was released, tapes were priced at $100 and sold to video stores. Top Gun was priced to own immediately. This was made possible by Pepsi buying ad space at the beginning of the tape. After that, this was common practice.

The film was a smash hit. On a budget of $15m, it grossed $357.3m worldwide, making it the highest grossing film of 1986. The soundtrack was huge too – it went to number 1 and, within a year had gone four times platinum.

The U.S. Navy’s plan for the film to work as a recruitment tool worked like a charm. They set up recruiting booths in major cinemas to catch some of the audience leaving the screenings, resulting in a 500% increase in their application numbers!!

Finally... the real training program at Miramar was called TOPGUN and, for years afterwards, “I feel the need, the need for speed” became a favourite phrase of pilots. So much so that any time a cadet quoted the movie, they were fined $5.

May 13, 2000: Dutch kabOOm! A fire at a fireworks factory in Enschede, the Netherlands, causes a chain reaction, blowing up the building with a force equivalent to 4-5 tons of TNT, shattering windows within a 2km radius, destroying more than 200 residences, killing 23 people, and injuring 950.

Quote:The wrong people were convicted for a massive fireworks explosion in 2000 that leveled part of Enschede, left 23 people dead and 950 injured, De Groene Amsterdammer reports based on an investigation report by former whistleblower Paul van Buitenen. It was a government "cover-up affair", Van Buitenen concludes, according to the magazine.

Van Buitenen based his report on a secret file containing documents from the police and Public Prosecutor, which he received in 2014, and information from sources he found himself, according to the magazine. He shared his report confidentially with the Tweede Kamer, the lower house of Dutch parliament, who sought advice from the Dutch Safety Board. But last month the Dutch Safety Board refused to launch a new investigation, saying that the disaster happened too long ago.

Van Buitenen concludes that the Prosecutor's "tunnel vision" in the investigation can be attributed to great pressure after the disaster to quickly identify the guilty parties. Various ministers had a motive to conceal their own mistakes, he said, De Groene Amsterdamer reports.

What else is in that basement?

Quote:BUENOS AIRES, May 11 (Reuters) - Dozens of boxes of Nazi material confiscated by Argentinean authorities during World War II were recently rediscovered in the Supreme Court's basement, the court said on Sunday.

The 83 boxes were sent by the Germany embassy in Tokyo to Argentina in June 1941 aboard the Japanese steamship "Nan-a-Maru," according to the history that the court was able to piece together, it said in a statement.

At the time, the large shipment drew the attention of authorities, who feared its contents could affect Argentina's neutrality in the war.

Despite claims at the time from German diplomatic representatives that the boxes held personal items, Argentine customs authorities searched five boxes at random.

They found postcards, photographs and propaganda material from the Nazi regime, as well as thousands of notebooks belonging to the Nazi party. A federal judge confiscated the materials, and referred the matter to the Supreme Court.

It was not immediately clear why the items were sent to Argentina or what, if any, action the Supreme Court took at the time.

Eighty-four years later, court staffers came across the boxes as they prepared for a Supreme Court museum.

"Upon opening one of the boxes, we identified material intended to consolidate and propagate Adolf Hitler's ideology in Argentina during the Second World War," the court said.

The court has now transferred the boxes to a room equipped with extra security measures, and invited the Holocaust Museum in Buenos Aires to participate in their preservation and inventory.

Experts will also examine them for any clues about still-unknown aspects of the Holocaust, such as international financing networks used by the Nazis.

Plenty of scuttlebutt from our austere media coming out of the Middle East.

May 14, 1796: Edward Jenner became the first British doctor to carry out a successful vaccination against smallpox. It was the first vaccine to be developed against a contagious disease. Its great strength was that it prevented infection thereby helping to eradicate the disease. Jenner is often called "the father of immunology", and his work is said to have saved "more lives than any other man."

More info on the Puck comic: The Cow-Pock—or—the Wonderful Effects of the New Inoculation! The Publications of the Anti-Vaccine Society Print (color engraving) published June 12, 1802 by H. Humphrey, St. James's Street. In this cartoon, the British satirist James Gillray caricatured a scene at the Smallpox and Inoculation Hospital at St. Pancras, showing cowpox vaccine being administered to frightened young women, and cows emerging from different parts of people's bodies.

The cartoon was inspired by the controversy over inoculating against the dreaded disease, smallpox. Opponents of vaccination had depicted cases of vaccinees developing bovine features and this is picked up and exaggerated by Gillray. Although the central figure is often assumed to be Edward Jenner circumstantial evidence suggests this may not be so. Although the director of the Smallpox Hospital William Woodville had originally supported Jenner, he and his colleague George Pearson, were in dispute with Jenner by the time the caricature was published.

It is unlikely they would have met Jenner and it has been suggested that the central figure represents Pearson. Gillray often included clues to identify individuals who were not easily recognizable, but the only clue here is the badge on the arm of the boy which identifies his connection with Woodville's hospital. The boy holds a container labeled "VACCINE POCK hot from the COW" and papers in the boy's pocket are labeled "Benefits of the Vaccine". The tub on the desk is labeled "OPENING MIXTURE". A bottle next to the tub is labeled "VOMIT". The painting on the wall depicts worshippers of the Golden Calf.

May 14, 1938: Football as soft power: England’s football team were pressured by the FA, the British Foreign Office and British ambassador to Germany, Nevile Henderson to give the Nazi salute in Berlin’s Olympic Stadium to assist the policy of appeasement before their game against Germany in Berlin.

Quote:Despite modern rhetoric that the Nazi salute was an embarrassment to the English nation, contemporary views were much more complicated. For English newspapers, politicians and football officials, the salute was a gesture and nothing more. It was a far cry from what the BBC labelled in 2003, “one of the darkest moments in the sport”.

For English players the salute was arguably a much bigger problem but unfortunately it is difficult to know how far their anger extended. Those players present for the decision only wrote their memoirs decades after the fact at a time when anti-German sentiment was at its highest. As Simon Kuper argued many years ago, for contemporaries it’s likely that the salute was much ado about nothing.

So why do we as modern fans struggle with the image? Why do newspapers constantly use it as a source of English shame in sport? The answer, perhaps unsurprisingly, lies in the historical perspective. For us, the Nazi salute is a sign of support for a regime that by September 1939 would drag Europe into one of the bloodiest wars in modern history. For us, the gesture is an affirmation of a regime that committed unspeakable acts of violence.

This knowledge was not available to Henderson, Rous or the England players. For them, the salute was a gesture towards their hosts. A piece of footballing admin. For them it was an unimportant side element to the game at hand. For them, the real business was football. Though football is often politicised, the incident should be a stark reminder that football can only be politicised if we allow it to be. Through continuous re-telling of the event, we have forgotten the most important element of the game: England won 6-3. As a neutral to English football, that seems an altogether more important story.

May 13, 1997: The bronze Crazy Girls statue, with its soon-to-be-set-of-hand-buffed bottoms, was unveiled at the Riviera Hotel & Casino on the Las Vegas strip. It was removed on Riviera closing day, May 4, 2015 to make its way to Planet Hollywood. The statue is known for its "hand-buffed bottoms" due to the many tourists who have rubbed (not smack!) them for good luck. But, Butt, Bronze BUTTS!

Quote:Bronze bottoms prompt bothered brows on Strip (May 14, 1997)

It looked like some sort of Hollywood affair.

The front of the Riviera hotel-casino was crammed Tuesday with people eagerly awaiting the unveiling of what's without a doubt one of the community's most controversial pieces of public art.

Seven statuesque showgirls sauntered out dressed in sequinned red evening gowns. They lined up near a covered item attached to the front of the hotel. On a cue from a hotel executive, they dropped the drape.

There, in all its glory, stood life-size bronze nude backsides of the "Crazy Girls" showgirls in their trademark "No Ifs Ands Or ..." pose.

"We at the Riviera think showgirls are synonymous with the glamorous side of Las Vegas," said Bob Vannucci, vice president of marketing. "We feel this is as much a part of Las Vegas history as the million dollars on display at Binion's."

But not everyone is heralding the Riviera's contribution to the city's public art collection. Several members of the National Organization for Women were on the sidewalk Tuesday protesting.

"Now that I looked at it, it's as sexual as I thought it would be," said Anne Golonka of NOW. "It's kind of soft pornography because these statues are faceless."

Golonka is concerned that women and children walking on the sidewalk will be exposed to the bare buttocks. She wants the hotel to move the 11-by-6-foot, 1,540-pound bronze inside.

"They just cleared all the hardcore (smut peddlers) off the Strip," she said. "The hotel just felt this was great publicity."

Golonka is upset that the women's faces aren't shown, and that their sexuality is being exploited. Bettina Best, a Marilyn Monroe impersonator from the "Legends in Concert" show at the Imperial Palace Hotel, agreed.

"Whatever they do inside is up to them, but outside there are kids," Best said. "They are advertising this as patting the women on the butts for good luck. This actually induces sexual harassment because some people can't separate fantasy from reality."

The Crazy Girls, to no surprise, take exception to these views. Having spent two days last summer in 100-degree temperatures in a warehouse posing, they've come to appreciate the artistry of sculptor Michael Conine.

"I think it's exciting to go down in history," Kim Barranco said of her bronze image. "It's more definite than a poster."

"We are proud to be immortalized on the Strip," Karen Raider added. "We all have day jobs, and some have children. Every girl here is more than just body parts."

Conine, from Santa Fe, N.M., said the project was one of the most challenging he has ever undertaken. Each girl had to pose for three 20-minute sessions until full backside plaster body casts were made in three sections. Then they had to pose with the other women again to cast the arm-in-arm sections.

Twenty-two plaster pieces were cast, weighing a total of 400 pounds. The casts were then shipped to the Shidoni Foundry in Tesuque, N.M.

"Nudity has been in art since the beginning," Conine said. "Using the female nude in art is nothing new."

But Golonka said Conine's sculpture is not like fine art. She said the statue of David in Caesars Palace is a good example. It doesn't flaunt his sexuality, she said, and doesn't portray him in a controversial pose like the Crazy Girls.

Las Vegas Sun

And in 2021...

Quote:‘Crazy Girls’ statue hauled away with show’s future uncertain

The topless show’s famous bronze statue was effectively evicted Tuesday morning from its position near Planet Hollywood’s Strip-facing entrance. This historic civic project required a heavy-duty fork lift, brought in after the original fork lift didn’t have enough “lift” to carry the ladies off the casino carpet.

The sculpture has since moved along with the show. A popular tourist attraction, producer Norbert Aleman’s prized visage would draw millions of visitors over the years. More than 1 million casino guests rubbed the statues’ rear ends at the Riv — Aleman had a counter set up to keep track — for “good luck.”

Those rear ends have been rubbed to a shine, further adding to the statue’s provenance.

The show’s producer says he is unsure of the statue’s monetary worth today (though the amount of bronze on the piece alone is likely worth $100K). But the original cost $325,000 in ‘97.

Aleman is poking around town, on and off the Strip, for a new home. He wants the right type of stage (especially a curtain), prefers a venue with a topless license (he’s not interested in taking his legendary topless show to pasties) and is determined to maintain the show’s historic integrity.

Las Vegas historian uncovers identity of 'Miss Atomic Bomb' after 25 years

From a soldier in the Islamic State to Al-Qaeda leader to shaking hands with POTUS Trump. Jolani’s coup and capitulation have rewarded Syria’s enemies by achieving all the objectives they set when they instigated a proxy war for regime-change, enforced crippling sanctions, and stole Syria’s oil and wheat.

The sanctions are no longer needed. They served their purpose.

Everything about the Syrian president & his story is mind-boggling. Take this, for example:

Exactly 20 years ago today, he was captured by the Americans in Iraq & jailed at Camp Bucca, a U.S.-run prison in Iraq. He was released March 13, 2011, and shortly after became a commander of al-Qaeda forces in Mosul. What he did exactly we don’t know, but two days later the Arab Spring came to Syria.

His life reads like a ready-made Hollywood script.

This is the man whose militancy once killed US troops in Iraq & who oversaw Syria's bloodiest sectarian massacre since the civil war began. You can just be the commander of Al-Qaeda in Syria and get the blessing of the President of the United States as long as you promise to kneel before Israel. Apparently, this completes Hillary Clinton's project when she was running the State Dept.

Welcome to the New Middle East...

So, is this part of a wider US security strategy or merely a protection racket?
I guess he's our bad guy now. Foreign policy Hells Angels style.

The pragmatic jihad...

Jolani reportedly offers Trump ‘Ukraine-style’ mineral deal for Syria

In a few years maybe ten we'll back to war with one of these same factions (with a new name of course) that refused to kneel. Round & round we go. They don't call it forever wars for nothing.

This is how the cynical game of international alliances works.

But what is an alliance?

A temporary contract. A convergence of interests. Nothing more.

Popular narratives suggest alliances are based on shared values, common morals. The truth is colder: alliances are merely pragmatic calculations.

And this cynicism isn't limited to relationships between states.

The "Billiard Ball" theory in International Relations was introduced by political scientist Arnold Wolfers. It states that each state behaves like a solid, uniform billiard ball. These "balls" interact purely through collisions driven by their individual interests, just like when playing pool.

No morality, no emotion. Just trajectories and collisions.

On a macro scale, states constantly shift alliances based on strategic interests.

Notable examples:

- The U.S. and USSR alliance during World War II, ideological foes united temporarily against a common enemy. Late 1946 the Cold War begins. We got a temporary reprieve from the centuries old Russophobia in the 90s through early 2000s, but then it restarted in 2014 and now it's on nuclear steroids.

- Fragile Middle Eastern alliances today, where former adversaries collaborate against common threats like Iran or ISIS, AND peeling away Russian alliances until the only one left is Persia.

Donald Trump slashes federal executive power.

Quote:By the authority vested in me as President by the Constitution and the laws of the United States of America, it is hereby ordered:

Section 1.  Purpose.  The United States is drastically overregulated.  The Code of Federal Regulations contains over 48,000 sections, stretching over 175,000 pages — far more than any citizen can possibly read, let alone fully understand.  Worse, many carry potential criminal penalties for violations.  The situation has become so dire that no one -– likely including those charged with enforcing our criminal laws at the Department of Justice — knows how many separate criminal offenses are contained in the Code of Federal Regulations, with at least one source estimating hundreds of thousands of such crimes. Many of these regulatory crimes are “strict liability” offenses, meaning that citizens need not have a guilty mental state to be convicted of a crime.

This status quo is absurd and unjust. It allows the executive branch to write the law, in addition to executing it. That situation can lend itself to abuse and weaponization by providing Government officials tools to target unwitting individuals. It privileges large corporations, which can afford to hire expensive legal teams to navigate complex regulatory schemes and fence out new market entrants, over average Americans.

The purpose of this order is to ease the regulatory burden on everyday Americans and ensure no American is transformed into a criminal for violating a regulation they have no reason to know exists.

Trump Secures Historic $1.2 Trillion Economic Commitment in Qatar

Quote:The landmark deals celebrated today will drive innovation and prosperity for generations, bolster American manufacturing and technological leadership, and put America on the path to a new Golden Age.

Since President Trump took office, his commitment to American manufacturing and innovation has attracted trillions of dollars in investments and global commercial deals. Allies like Qatar are partnering in the United States’ success.

The following represent just a few of the many groundbreaking deals secured in Qatar:

Boeing and GE Aerospace secured a landmark order from Qatar Airways, a $96 billion agreement to acquire up to 210 American-made Boeing 787 Dreamliner and 777X aircraft powered by GE Aerospace engines. This is Boeing’s largest-ever widebody order and largest-ever 787 order. This historic agreement will support 154,000 U.S. jobs annually, totaling over 1 million jobs in the United States during the course of production and delivery of this deal.

McDermott has a strong partnership with Qatar Energy in advancing critical energy infrastructure, with seven active projects worth $8.5 billion. As the sole provider of offshore components for Qatar’s major LNG expansion, McDermott’s work directly supports thousands of U.S. energy sector jobs.

Parsons has successfully won 30 projects worth up to $97 billion. These high-value engagements have fueled significant company growth, supporting thousands of jobs across the United States and reinforcing American leadership in cutting-edge engineering and innovation.

Quantinuum finalized a Joint Venture Agreement with Al Rabban Capital, a prominent Qatari company. Qatar will invest up to $1 billion in state-of-the-art quantum technologies and workforce development provided by the Joint Venture, supporting U.S. and Qatari jobs and leadership in this critical emerging technology.

Today’s signings mark President Trump’s intent to accelerate Qatar’s defense investment in the U.S.-Qatar security  partnership—enhancing regional deterrence and benefitting the U.S. industrial base.

The defense deals secured today lock in Qatar’s procurement of state-of-the-art military equipment from two leading U.S. defense companies.

Raytheon, an RTX business, secured a $1 billion agreement for Qatar’s acquisition of counter-drone capabilities, signed by the U.S. and Qatari governments. This deal establishes Qatar as the first international customer for Raytheon’s Fixed Site – Low, Slow, Small Unmanned Aerial System Integrated Defeat System (FS-LIDS) designed to counter unmanned aircraft. The deal directly supports high-skilled manufacturing and engineering jobs in the United States and reinforces America’s leadership in innovative defense technologies.

General Atomics secured a nearly $2 billion agreement for Qatar’s acquisition of the MQ-9B remotely piloted aircraft system, signed by the U.S. and Qatari governments. This deal will strengthen the U.S.-Qatar bilateral relationship and provide the Qatari Armed Forces with the most advanced multi-mission remotely piloted aircraft in the world, powered by U.S. products made in America.

The United States and Qatar also signed a statement of intent to further strengthen our security partnership, outlining over $38 billion in potential investments including support for burden-sharing at Al Udeid Air Base and future defense capabilities related to air defense and maritime security.

These new agreements and instruments aim to drive the growth of the U.S.-Qatar bilateral commercial relationship, create thousands of well-paying jobs, and open new trade and investment opportunities for both countries over the coming decade and beyond.

Boeing Marks Comeback From Crisis With Record Qatar Air Deal

Given the geostrategic importance of Saudi and Emirati moves happening now to play East and West off each other to leap to the frontier in AI, chips, space, and nuclear. Europe should pay close attention to Saudi Arabia and UAE's massive AI investments. What's striking is how these Gulf state commitments completely dwarf Europe's AI investment. It appears the UAE is already positioned to become #3 globally in AI, behind only the US and China.

Launched in 1965, USS Enterprise Jr. was a 53-foot carrier built from a surplus Coast Guard buoy boat and junk for $226. The Navy recruiting tool was operated by a helmsman who stood in the superstructure and looked out the windows of the bridge. To entertain crowds, the Enterprise Jr. could launch and recover remote-controlled model F4U Corsairs. The Navy used it up until the early 70s. Nobody seems to know what happened to it. Knowing the Navy, it was probably scrapped.

Full article at OILPRICE.com

Little by little, byte by byte, bit by bit, the Climatista's Empire is falling apart. Of course, it won't be a mass surrender - there are too many parasites making a good living from the outlandish baseless scare for that to happen, but as each day goes by their overall nut zero influence declines.

Austria walks back support for EU’s 2040 climate target

Just like these parasites in 1990 gave themselves 10 years to complete their climate scam Agenda by year 2000, which every goal failed. Next they gave themselves 20 years (Agenda 2020) to complete which also failed. Next, Agenda 2030...the 10 year plan failed but we're gonna succeed this time! Nope, some are already realizing that is not going to happen and have begun chopping & moving the same goals out to 2040 and some to 2050. That too will likely fail, but the climate oligarchy if nothing else is damn persistent on imaginary data, wordsmithing & new/old buzzwords.

Yesterday Earth warmed by 1/20,000th of a degree (0.00005C) because of Climate Change. And the UK's contribution was 1/2,500,000th of a degree (0.0000004C).
If we get to NutZero, we'll be cold, broke, starving and globally irrelevant.

But Earth will be 0.0000004C per day cooler!

Worth it?

Don't worry, COP 30 will sort it like they have for the last 30 years.

The Climatista Prayer:

"We have faith, Saint Greta, in the Catastrophe you foretold. We know your Climate Collapse is coming!

But every day that passes without it makes it harder to convince the Peasantry!

They are starting to have doubts!

How much longer must we wait!?"

May 15, 1913: In every culture, tales of "the little people" have endured and inspired belief in another world, an unseen world, just beyond our grasp. The story of the Texas Green Man is just such a tale. Was it an alien? Something inter-dimensional? A hoax? OR something beyond comprehension?

James Willett Moseley (August 4, 1931 – Nov 16, 2012) spent nearly 60 years as a UFO researcher, exposing UFO hoaxes and engineering hoaxes of his own. He was best known as the publisher of the UFO newsletters Saucer News and its successor Saucer Smear, which became the longest continuously published UFO journal in the world. He lived on a large trust fund and never had a real job. His early years was spent traveling around South America to engage in what he called "grave robbing" of pre-Columbian artifacts, then later travelling to UFO conferences, interviewing UFO witnesses and personalities. He did believe a core of the UFO phenomenon was real and truly unexplained after filtering out all the hoaxes, conspiracy theories, mis-identifications and just plain nonsense that pervades much of the field.

Karl Tomlinson Pflock (Jan 6, 1943 – June 5, 2006) was a Marine then became a CIA intelligence officer, Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense in the Reagan Administration, strategic planner, UFO researcher, and author of both fiction and non-fiction. He was best known for his book Roswell: Inconvenient Facts and the Will to Believe.

After stopping for lunch, the Soviets refused to leave a Howard Johnson's restaurant because they were so amazed by all the food they could order.
