RE: Meme Scholar with Madness (PhD) - EndtheMadnessNow - 01-31-2025 January 30, 1945: the German ship Wilhelm Gustloff, which was loaded with German military personnel and refugees from East Prussia, was hit on her port side by three torpedoes from Soviet submarine S-13 in the Baltic Sea: an estimated 9,343 died, making it one of the worst maritime disasters in history. The Gustloff, designed to carry a maximum of 1,865 people total, was transporting 10,582 refugees, soldiers, sailors, and crew – including scores of sick and injured, as well as women, children, and the elderly. All were fleeing from the terrible fate that awaited most of those left in the wake of the Soviet advance, including Germans and non-Germans alike. ![]() The MV Wilhelm Gustloff, named after the leader of the Swiss National Socialist Party, was launched in 1937. A touristic cruiser for German workers and officials, it was turned into a hospital and later on accommodation and logistics ship during the World War II. Originally constructed as a cruise ship for the Nazi Strength Through Joy (Kraft durch Freude) organization in 1937. Wilhelm Gustloff had been requisitioned by the Kriegsmarine (German navy) in 1939. Kraft durch Freude was a German NSDAP-operated leisure organization in Nazi Germany. It was part of the German Labour Front, the national labour organization at that time. On 10 February 1945, S-13 sank another German military transport ship General von Steuben. 3,300 civilians and military personnel from the ship died, and 300 survived. This sub has 6 confirmed victories (5 vessels sunk, 1 damaged) and may hold the world record for the highest number of deaths by a single submarine. He tried once, back when he was young, but the walls of a house pressed in on him the way a whiskey debt pressed in on a man’s dignity. He left before the roof beams had time to collect dust, before the hearth could take on the smell of cooking grease, before his name was more than a whisper in the town he’d meant to call home. So he walked. From the green curl of the coastal hills to the dry gut of the Nevada desert, he left his footprints behind him like old promises, too worn to be kept. He worked enough to keep moving—mending fences, splitting wood, unloading riverboats—but he never stayed long. One day, outside a town called Bitterroot, he met an old man whittling by a half-broke wagon. The man’s beard was the color of dead sage, and his hands were knotted like tree roots. “Where ya headed?” the old man asked. Joe wiped the dust off his lips. “Don’t rightly know.” The old man chuckled. “Ain’t that something. You lookin’ for somethin’, or runnin’ from it?” Joe shrugged. “Some folks build a house, sit in one spot ‘til they rot. Me? I just keep going.” The old man nodded slow, like a man who’d seen every kind of fool there was. “You think that makes you free?” Joe didn’t answer right away. He squinted at the horizon, where the land stretched out with towns that never meant much to him. “Don’t know,” he said finally. “But I know stoppin’ don’t suit me.” The old man spat into the dust and flicked his knife against the wood, sending shavings into the wind. “Well, you’ll find out sooner or later. Thing ‘bout wanderin’—you ain’t just leavin’ places behind. You’re leavin’ people too. And one day, you’re gonna find a place that don’t let go.” Joe watched as a cloud shifted over the sun, dimming the light for just a moment. The wind shifted, carrying the smell of river mud and dry grass. He felt the old man’s words settle on him like the weight of a saddle left too long on a weary horse. Maybe he was right. Maybe one day, the road would run out, or he’d run out of road. But today wasn’t that day. Joe tipped his hat, hitched up his pack, and kept walking. ![]() RE: Meme Scholar with Madness (PhD) - EndtheMadnessNow - 02-05-2025 Greenbrier Bunker paperwork from 1965 concerning contract with Riggs-Distler Company: ![]() Wonder if Riggs still has any of the original secret paperwork. I'm too lazy to spend hours researching for a straight answer so I asked Grok. The short answer: Nobody actually knows but Israel is sovereign over the Gaza Strip. Summary: The ownership and control of Gaza are complex and contentious issues, often debated in political, legal, and humanitarian contexts. The question of who "owns" Gaza does not have a straightforward answer due to the political and military realities on the ground. From a legal standpoint, Gaza is part of the Palestinian territories, but in practice, its governance is split between Hamas, which controls the internal aspects, and Israel, which controls external access and key infrastructure. The situation is further complicated by international law, human rights concerns, and the ongoing blockade. In summary, while Hamas governs the day-to-day life in Gaza, Israel maintains significant control over its borders, resources, and security environment, leading to a situation where neither fully "owns" Gaza in the traditional sense of sovereignty. The "pips" are the famous six short tones that mark the precise start of each hour, known as the Greenwich Time Signal. They have become a hallmark of BBC radio, especially on stations like BBC Radio 4, where they are still used to this day. The idea was proposed by Sir Frank Watson Dyson, who was the Astronomer Royal at the time. The actual implementation of the pips in broadcasting was engineered by the BBC's John Reith, with technical assistance from the Post Office, which managed the radio transmission infrastructure. Perhaps the most devastating political innovation of 2025 is not the Eye of Sauron, as DJT's gaze is called, but it's technological enabler, DOGE's Eye of Agamotto, that roves where the media could not go. It's a tremendous demonstration of the power of data. The assumption was always that data would control the masses. They forget it also created an inescapable chain of accountability. The digital shock troops have been deployed. In trying to make sense of the changes sweeping over 2025 it is interesting to compare and contrast it with the liquidation of the British Empire. In 1945 the institutions that made up imperium had become a burden; 80 years later obsolescence had also overtaken the US 1945 world. Like Britain the US seeks to wind up the institutions of the postwar. They are no longer worthwhile. But unlike Britain, the US has the possibility of reinventing and enlarging its power by changing the basis to pillars which give it a present historical advantage. The new strategy is to divest from the UN, the multilateral alphabet soup, the old media and invest in (I think) domestic human capital, technological dominance and resource acquisition terrestrially and off planet. That is what I think they are trying to do. The natural strategy of the ancien regime as it tries to stem the collapse it senses all around it is to hit the brakes everywhere; to adopt the politics of rejection as the antidote to failure. This is what the Left will do as soon as can coordinate a response. Who has tradecraft expertise in seizing control of altering governments’ shape and scope through personnel and payment systems? Well, we know a few who have expertise in payments systems. No idea over personnel. "The illusion of freedom will continue for as long as it's profitable to continue the illusion. As for Musk and usurpation, attorney and activist Tom Renz explained in a lengthy thread that the Trump administration planned carefully for this effort. Trump took an existing agency from the Obama era that focused on software development and tasked it instead to do a deep data dive on federal spending. He then made Musk a partner to the US DOGE Service to facilitate the effort. The USDS was an Obamacare office created to make government software better. They were essentially software development for the bureaucracy. Trump renamed the United States Digital Service (USDS) the United States DOGE Service which even kept the acronym the same. Ha. Not only did repurposing an appropriate existing department allow Trump to ensure there was funding for DOGE without having to fight with Congress - he also ensured its legality. Trump also ordered that DOGE teams be hired in every administrative branch agency. These teams are to include a team lead, a lawyer, an HR person, and an engineer. These teams work for USDS (DOGE) but work with and within various agencies. While all this is part of a "software modernization initiative," looking at the software and how things are managed is a great way to find out where there is waste - particularly when part of the mandate it to ensure efficiency. The last part of the EO is all important boilerplate. Trump orders all agencies to support the DOGE initiative, disclaims any other prior EOs that could interfere with this order, and makes a conflict of laws statement. This was further insulation to make this harder for political opponents to fight in court. How was Trump able to do this? The Daily Wire's Luke Rosiak did a deep dive of his own and discovered that Trump has Joe Biden to thank. Trump largely ignored the previous iteration of USDS, assuming its work revolved around its ostensible mission of improving exec-branch information technology. Instead, it became a beehive for left-wing activists, and Biden reversed Trump's action to protect it from political interference once in office. Oh, and even better - it has an ObamaCare angle, too! Obama’s incompetent rollout of ObamaCare necessitated the creation of USDS to rescue his bureaucrats from the debacle they created. They sought out younger experts for that rescue, while exempting them from the red tape that applies to other agencies. They then left them alone rather than strictly proscribe the work to the declared USDS mission. ![]() A DOGE Origin Story Note, the Tom Renz thread linked above has an easier, shorter breakdown of DOGE foxy move, OR even better his Substack blog. The overarching lesson is to limit executive power — and to eliminate unaccountable agencies. Had Democrats never passed ObamaCare, they wouldn’t be in this disaster now, watching Republicans use their machinery to dismantle their corrupt grift one agency and department at a time. Lupercalia was also known as "dies Februatus", after the purification instruments called "februa", the basis for the month, Februarius. Valentine’s Day is a modern day "lustration" ritual dedicated to the fertility goddess. The word lustration derives from the Latin lustratio, which means "purification by sacrifice". Lustration rituals and processes in ancient Greek and Roman society were intended to help individuals or communities rid themselves of impurities. They are similar to scapegoat rituals. When a community was to be purified, either from collective guilt or from the accumulated ill luck and ill-doing of a period of time, different processes were used from culture to culture. The usual Greek method, for instance, seems to have been to lead through the village certain persons or animals capable of absorbing the pollution and then to lead them out of the city. In Rome, purifying materials were led or carried around the person or community in question. Many noteworthy public rites were of this kind, such as the Lupercalia (around the Palatine hill) and the amburbium ("around the city"). ![]() In many ways, Covid-19 and the pandemic resemble a world wide lustration ritual.
