Dec 12, 1953: Chuck Yeager piloted Bell X-1A to Mach 2.44 at an altitude of 74,700 feet, a new record for piloted aircraft at the time. After reaching Mach 2.44, the X-1A tumbled out of control, twice reaching 8 Gs. Yeager recovered from inverted spin and landed the aircraft.

December 12, 1955: British engineer Christopher Cockerell patented the 1st hovercraft. The first known design for a hovercraft was made by Emmanuel Swedenborg as far back as 1716, but dismissed as impractical. Sir John Thornycroft produced models in the 1870s, but as the internal combustion engine had not yet been invented, he lacked a suitable power source. In 1955 Sir Christopher Cockerell (1910-1999) filed his first patent for a vehicle carried on an air-filled cushion, and in 1959 the SR-N1 became the first practical hovercraft. It used a gas turbine engine to power a large aircraft propeller, which drew air into a space beneath the craft. The air cushion was contained by a rubber skirt, and a second propeller moved the vehicle forward. Hovercraft have been successfully utilized as ferries, assault craft, and survey vessels.

The 1st commercial hovercraft, SR:N1 (Saunders-Roe Nautical 1), was built by Saunders Roe and successfully crossed the English Channel from Calais to Dover in just over two hours on 25 July 1959 with Cockerell on board.

The 1962 Christmas classic "Do You Hear What I Hear?" was inspired by the Cuban Missile Crisis. But did you know Robert Goulet's version was co-songwriter Noël Regney's favorite interpretation.

NY Times (archived)

Noël Regney (born Léon Schlienger; 19 August 1922 – 22 November 2002), was a French World War II veteran and songwriter, best known for...

Do You Hear What I Hear? (1968)

Léon Schlienger, written backwards, is Noël Regnei (-lhcS). He grew up Catholic, but later became a Unitarian Universalist. He was drafted into the Nazi army despite being a Frenchman like many other "Malgré-nous". As an Alsatian, he spoke the German dialect Alsatian as fluently as French. It is said that he soon deserted, joined a group of French Resistance fighters, and became a double agent working for the French. He led a party of Nazis into an ambush, was shot in the arm, but survived. Eventually, while touring the United States, accompanying Lucienne Boyer, contemporary of Édith Piaf, he met his first wife pianist/composer Gloria Shayne with whom in 1962, he composed the Christmas song "Do You Hear What I Hear?" He had Pick's disease, a degenerative brain illness that causes dementia.

Dec 12, 1961: a Thor-Agena-B rocket with a special payload lifted off from Vandenberg Air Force Base in California. The launch of the reconnaissance satellite Discoverer 36 was considered routine, except that a piggyback passenger was aboard — Amateur Radio’s first satellite, OSCAR-1. (Orbiting Satellites Carrying Amateur Radio)

The uniqueness of the OSCAR-1 spacecraft was not only that itwas built by amateurs, for only $68 dollars and only about four years after the launch of Sputnik-1, but that it was the world’s first piggyback satellite and the world’s first private non-government spacecraft.

Immediately following the launch of OSCAR-1, Vice President Lyndon B. Johnson honored it with a congratulatory telegram to the group sponsoring this momentous event in the history of Amateur Radio. It read:

“For me this project is symbolic of the type of freedom for which this country stands — freedom of enterprise and freedom of participation on the part of individuals throughout the world.”

OSCAR I operated for nearly 20 days, testing radio reception from space. During that time, thousands of radio operators in 28 different countries detected the satellite's simple "Hi" morse code message. To this day, many organizations identify their Morse-transmitting satellites with "HI", which also indicates laughter in amateur telegraphy like LOL.

Launch mass: 10.0 kilograms (22.0 lb)
Dimensions: 15.2 by 25.4 by 33 centimeters (6.0 in × 10.0 in × 13.0 in)

To get the project started, they called a series of high-level meetings of the members of the Project OSCAR group, the ARRL, representatives of the U.S. Air Force and the Lockheed Missiles and Space Company in Sunnyvale, California. At the time, Lance Ginner worked for Lockheed, having begun in January 1960 as an “A” Technician working in the Agena A and B space vehicle checkout complex. He was responsible for designing and building test aids to facilitate final systems checkout prior to shipment to Vandenberg Air Force Base for launch. The following year he advanced to a salaried position as a test conductor in satellite subsystems and systems level checkout. It was then that he became aware of Project OSCAR through meeting Chuck Townes and Nick Marshall, both of whom were also employed by Lockheed.

In an interview, Ginner answered a question about the most challenging aspects in the first OSCARs:

‘Getting the early OSCAR satellites approved for launch was a highly political process. I was a 21 year old just starting out in the field and was tremendously impressed by the talents of the OSCAR Board of Directors. The challenges the board faced in obtaining the permissions from the various government agencies and Lockheed were enormous. We had to keep in mind that ejectable sub-satellites were unknown at the time. And, convincing the various agencies that this ‘honor’ should go to a home built satellite with no official credentials was seen as a big risk. A premature release of the OSCAR satellite would keep the Agena satellite from deploying its booster adapter and would be a catastrophic end to the main mission. There were numerous meetings with government and military representatives, including many well-connected hams.

These discussions and the creation of the OSCAR ‘White Paper,’ helped establish the political and technical credibility we needed to obtain launch permission. The bureaucratic efforts probably exceeded those required to build the satellite.

“There were certainly technical risks in space hardware. In 1961, there were no transistors that would put out any real power at 144 MHz. We ended up using a prototype Fairchild part that was not even on the market. In those days, you did not have someone saying, ‘you can’t do it that way,’ because no one had ever done it before!"

One of the first official acts of Trump's presidency will be to pardon most of the rioters accused or convicted of storming the Capitol to block the certification of Biden’s victory.

Trump: “It’s going to start in the first hour. Maybe the first nine minutes.”

Iran recently plotted to have you assassinated. What are the chances of going to war with Iran during your next term?

Trump: "Anything can happen. Anything can happen. It's a very volatile situation. I think the most dangerous thing right now is what's happening, where Zelensky has decided, with the approval of, I assume, the President, to start shooting missiles into Russia. I think that’s a major escalation. I think it's a foolish decision. But I would imagine people are waiting until I get in before anything happens. I would imagine. I think that would be very smart to do that."

Do you trust Netanyahu?

Trump: "I don’t trust anybody."

What are your first priorities in Congress?

Trump: "Well, my first priorities are, I don't really need Congress for it, frankly, securing the border and drilling for oil."

You get some things from your father. What do you get from your mother?

Trump: "So my mother was a woman. She was born in Scotland. She had great respect for the queen, Queen Elizabeth. It was a long time. She was there for 75 years. And she liked the pomp and ceremony. She thought it was a good thing, not a bad thing. But she was glamorous and my father was hard nosed. It’s sort of an interesting combination. Maybe there's a combination. Here we sit in Mar a Lago. Maybe there's a combination of that."

Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening
By Robert Frost (1922)

Whose woods these are I think I know.
His house is in the village though;
He will not see me stopping here
To watch his woods fill up with snow.

My little horse must think it queer
To stop without a farmhouse near
Between the woods and frozen lake
The darkest evening of the year.

He gives his harness bells a shake
To ask if there is some mistake.
The only other sound’s the sweep
Of easy wind and downy flake.

The woods are lovely, dark and deep,
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.

Dec 13, 1924: A first (and only) child is born to Marlene Dietrich (27 December 1901 – 6 May 1992), a largely unknown German actress, and director Rudolf Sieber. Maria Elisabeth Riva (née Sieber) became an actress in her own right, earning 2 Emmy nominations in the ‘50s and writing a bestseller about her mother. Mommy dearest was fluent in German, English, and French. Marlene, who was bisexual, enjoyed the thriving gay bars and drag balls of 1920s Berlin.

When Marlene was in her 50s she had a relationship with actor Yul Brynner, which lasted more than a decade. Dietrich's love life continued into her 70s. Her lovers included Errol Flynn, George Bernard Shaw, John F. Kennedy, Joe Kennedy, Michael Todd, Michael Wilding, John Wayne, Kirk Douglas, and Frank Sinatra. Damn, she really got around!

Moved out of Nazi Germany at age 5 and emigrated to Hollywood USA. Growing up on the Paramount lot, she was cast in her first film at age 9, playing the younger version of Catherine the Great in THE SCARLET EMPRESS and had a nonspeaking cameo in the convent school scene (she's seated and sewing) in "The Garden of Allah."

During her childhood, Maria would often join the Kennedy family on vacation along with her mother. Despite the six-year age difference between the two, she became good friends with Rosemary Kennedy, saying of their friendship, "Perhaps being two misfits, we felt comfortable in each other's company".

Inside Rosemary Kennedy's Unlikely Friendship with Marlene Dietrich's Daughter Maria - The two met in the South of France, while their parents had an affair.

"The Child," she imperiously called her, Riva's biography of her mother (published after her death) is shown as a cold, manipulative narcissist who treated Riva more like an assistant or extension of herself than a daughter. Happy birthday, Maria Riva is alive, turning 100 today!

Dec 13, 1963: The Frank and Eleanor Perry film LADYBUG LADYBUG featuring William Daniels (his film debut; born March 31, 1927), premiered at the Fox Lido theatre in Los Angeles. General release came Dec 23rd. Filmed in the tiny town of Gradyville, Pennsylvania.

The docudrama film is a commentary on the psychological effects of the Cold War, the title deriving from the classic nursery rhyme.

Staff and students at a rural school react to a warning of an imminent nuclear attack, not knowing whether it is real or a mistake. The film was inspired by a McCall's magazine story by Lois Dickert (Lois Dickert Armstrong) about an actual incident at a California elementary school during the 1962 Cuban Missile Crisis.

Arthur Penn’s NIGHT MOVES (1975) - a haunting neo-noir reimagines the hard-boiled detective film for the disillusioned, paranoid 1970s. In one of his greatest performances, Gene Hackman oozes world-weary cynicism as a private investigator whose search for an actress’s missing daughter (Melanie Griffith; 16 at the time of filming) leads him from the Hollywood Hills to the Florida Keys, where he is pulled into a sordid family drama and a sinister conspiracy he can hardly grasp. Bolstered by Alan Sharp’s genre-scrambling script and Dede Allen’s elliptical editing, the daringly labyrinthine Night Moves is a defining work of post-Watergate cinema—a silent scream of existential dread and moral decay whose legend has only grown with time.

New Jersey warns firefighters, cops to avoid crashed drones over serious health and safety concerns

Another shiny example of how some of mainstream media has totally lost its credibility, look at the drone story. They aren't even trying to get it right because the answers are not very exciting and you can't keep slapping the red button that is drawing audience.

Also, understanding any of it takes work. Same reporter that covered a dog show or a car crash yesterday is covering this today. It's bad. Really bad. And the UFO angle means they don't even have to take it seriously at all, which is an unfortunate thing we have seen forever.

Obviously, the federal gov't has been absolutely atrocious at messaging on this, but that is not new at all, they denied their domain awareness gap for years until it was literally a top news story. They blew the drone threat until it was literally a deadly thing happening on a battlefield. There is a long track record of this, and the the more astute & common sense dot connecting researchers has been reporting on it for over a decade in extreme detail.

Dec 13, 1941: a Japanese pilot who had crashed on a remote Hawaiian island during the the attack on Pearl Harbor was killed in the "Battle of Niihau". He had recruited locals of Japanese descent and terrorized the islanders before a Hawaiian couple managed to overpower and kill him.

Quote:Kanahele, noticing the fatigue and discouragement of his two captors, took advantage of the brief distraction as the pilot handed the shotgun to Harada. He and his wife leapt at the pilot. Nishikaichi pulled his pistol out of his boot. Ella Kanahele grabbed his arm and brought it down. Harada pulled her off the pilot, who then shot Ben Kanahele three times: in the groin, stomach, and upper leg.

Ben Kanahele then picked Nishikaichi up in the same manner that he picked up the sheep that were commercially raised on the island, hurling Nishikaichi into a stone wall. Ella Kanahele then bashed him in the head with a rock, and Ben slit his throat with his hunting knife. Harada then turned the shotgun on himself, committing suicide. Ben Kanahele was taken to Waimea Hospital on Kauaʻi to recuperate; he was awarded with the Medal for Merit and the Purple Heart, his wife did not receive any official recognition.

Caught attempting to import & distribute from OUTSIDE of the USA with just ONE kilo heroin. The Feds must have wanted this guy locked away really bad for something other than a bag of dope. That EO was signed by Bush way back in September 23, 2001.

Quote:The Haqqani network was founded in 1970 by Jalaluddin Haqqani, a fundamentalist of the Zadran tribe, who fought for Yunus Khalis's mujahideen faction against the Soviets in the 1980s. Jalaluddin Haqqani died in 2018 and his son Sirajuddin Haqqani now leads the group. The Haqqani network was one of the Reagan administration's most CIA-funded anti-Soviet groups in the 1980s. In the latter stages of the war, Haqqani formed close ties with foreign jihadists, including Osama bin Laden, becoming one of his closest mentors. The Haqqani network pledged allegiance to the Taliban in 1995,[28] and has been an increasingly incorporated wing of the group ever since. Taliban and Haqqani leaders have denied the existence of the "network", saying it is no different from the Taliban. In 2012, the United States designated the Haqqani network as a terrorist organization. In 2015, Pakistan banned the Haqqani network as part of its National Action Plan. The elusive Haqqani network has been blamed for some of the deadliest attacks during the War in Afghanistan (2001-2021), having a reputation of frequently using suicide bombings and being able to carry out complex attacks.

How Al-Qaeda, the Haqqani Network and the Taliban are connected through marriage. Mullah Omar (founder Taliban), Jalaluddin Haqqani (founder Haqqani network) and Al-Zawahiri (co-founder Al-Qaeda) are all fathers-in-law of Hamza Bin Laden (son of Osama Bin Laden).

And Sirajuddin Haqqani (son of Jalaluddin Haqqani, acting Minister of Interior, Deputy leader of the Taliban, the Caliph and leader Haqqani network) and Mullah Yacoob (son of Mullah Omar, 2nd Deputy leader Taliban and acting Minister of Defense) are Hamza Bin Laden's brothers-in-law. Only the CIA could possibly have a handle on this Islamist jigsaw puzzle as they (along with British intel) created parts of it.

December 15, 1944: Legendary swing band leader US Army Air Forces Major Glenn Miller mysteriously disappeared in a single-engine UC-64A Norseman plane over the English Channel, bound for Paris. No trace of him or the plane was ever found. It either suffered engine failure or was shot down by friendly fire or "weather" or abducted by aliens.

His civilian band, Glenn Miller and his Orchestra was one of the most popular and successful bands of the 20th century and the big band era.

Quote:A document concerning the military career and disappearance of Miller appeared during 2017 in the book Glenn Miller Declassified by Dennis M. Spragg, director of the Glenn Miller Archives. On behalf of the Glenn Miller Estate and with the full cooperation of American and British authorities, all relevant and many new documents concerning the circumstances of the accident were discovered and published, including the inquiry findings of January 20, 1945. According to the book, Miller had no other duties than as a musical and broadcasting officer, and his high profile and schedule ruled out any clandestine role as later speculated by sensationalists. The book concludes that he was not the victim of foul play or friendly fire.
Investigation into disappearance

One of Glenn Miller's trombones is on display at the National Museum of the US Air Force in Dayton, OH, along with other Miller memorabilia. According to the display notes, the Miller estate allowed James Stewart to "play" this trombone in this film. Another trombone and additional memorabilia are displayed at the Glenn Miller Birthplace Museum in Clarinda, Iowa.

Glenn Miller's name is inscribed on a stone wall at the American War Cemetery at Madingley, near Cambridge, UK; it appears as Alton G. Miller.

An article from July 7, 2014 in the Chicago Tribune offered some light on the mystery of Glenn Miller's disappearance: despite many theories, Miller's plane most likely crashed in foggy and cold weather because it had a faulty carburetor (and not, as has been previously reported, due to friendly aircraft fire). The plane had a type of defective carburetor that had a history of causing crashes in other aircraft because it easily iced up in cold weather. However, the wreckage has still not been found.

Ruled mentally ill, released in December 1966; died Nov 11, 1975 in a VA hospital in New Hampshire at age 88.

COMFORT AND JOY (1984) a Christmas movie.

There was a real "Ice Cream War" in Glasgow in 1984, and it led to murders within the city. It was really a drug-land turf war by gangs who used ice cream vans as a front. Writers Douglas Skelton and Lisa Brownlie cover the story in their 1992 book "Frightener". The deaths of van-driver Andrew Boyle (who had resisted being involved in drug dealing) and his family happened in April 1984, four months before "Comfort and Joy" was released, and, as star Bill Paterson acknowledges, this had an impact on the film's reception: "It wasn't a great time to launch a light-hearted look at the ice-cream business in Glasgow."

The photo on Hillary's (Rikki Fulton) desk of a young man in naval uniform actually is the young Fulton, who served in the Royal Navy 1941-45.

Music cues from two tracks from the 1982 album "Love Over Gold" by Dire Straits are used in the film - the tracks are "Telegraph Road" and "Private Investigations". In an interview published at the time of the film's release in 1984, director Bill Forsyth wanted to mirror the tone of the album, that of an individual trying to solve a mystery that may be of his own creation.

One of the ice-cream companies operates under the name of McCool. Finn McCool is a legendary figure in Scottish myth.

TIME Heaven and The Afterlife 2023

Quote:This question is more than a mind-bender. For thousands of years, certain people have claimed to have actually visited the place that, Saint Paul promised, “no eye has seen … and no human mind has conceived,” and their stories very often follow the same narrative arc.

A skeptic, a rogue or an innocent suffers hardship or injury: he is hit on the head, he suffers a stroke, he sustains damage in a car crash or on the operating table. A feeling of disconnection comes over him, a sense of being “outside” himself. Perhaps he encounters an opening: a gate, a door, a tunnel. And then, all at once, he is being guided through other worlds that look and feel to him more “real” than the world in which he once existed. These realms are both familiar and strange, containing music that doesn’t sound like music and light brighter than any light, and creatures that may or may not be angels, and the familiar faces of loved ones lost as well as figures from history and sometimes—depending on the narrator—even Jesus himself. The tourist is agape. Words fail. He leaves reluctantly to reoccupy his body and this earth. But the experience changes him forever. Convinced as he is of a wholly different reality, he is calmer, more self-assured, determined to persuade the world of heaven’s truth. He tells his story to the masses. “Heaven is real!” he proclaims.

Dec 16, 1907: First Wireless Radio Broadcast: opera singer Eugenia Farrar (1875 – May 17, 1966) became the first person to sing over a wireless radio broadcast when radio pioneer Lee de Forest broadcasted her voice from his lab at the Brooklyn Navy Yard in New York. The song was heard by Oliver Wyckoff, radio operator on USS Dolphin in the nearby Navy Yard. On May 22, 1957, all three reunited on This Is Your Life. Star Trek actor DeForest Kelley was named after him.

Quote:This is Your Life

In 1907, radio pioneer Lee de Forest was working in his Manhattan lab on his "arc radiotelephone," a means to broadcast not just Morse code signals, but the human voice over radio waves. The exact date is lost to history, but he invited a Swedish-born opera singer to his laboratory to sing over the radio, which became the first documented case of an "entertainment" radio broadcast. Since radio was such a new invention, receivers were rare, and one of the few places you could find one was on board a Navy ship; by coincidence, USS Dolphin was equipped with a receiver, and radio operator Oliver Wyckoff picked up Eugenia Farrar singing "I Love You Truly" as the ship approached the Brooklyn Navy Yard. This is a story we have told for years at the Yard, but we only recently discovered that all three of these figures reunited 50 years later on an episode of This Is Your Life, in which we were able to hear, for the first time, Farrar sing. You can watch the episode on YouTube (part 1 & part 2).

Another 50 years later, there was another reunion, of sorts, at the Yard. Later in life, Wyckoff and Farrar became acquainted through the De Forest Pioneers radio club, and when she died in 1966 with no family, he kept her ashes, which were passed down in his family. When his great-granddaughter did not know what to do with them, she contacted the Brooklyn Navy Yard, and eventually, arrangements were made in 2010 to place them in a mausoleum in Green-Wood Cemetery (pictured above).

December 17, 1968: Mary Flora Bell (age 11), was sentenced to life in detention at "Her Majesty's pleasure" at Newcastle Assizes, for the murder of two boys: Martin Brown (aged 4) and Brian Howe (aged 3). The case attracted huge media attention. In 1980, at age 23 she was released from prison. Given her early childhood horrorific abuse by her mother it's not much of a surprise. A lifelong court order granted her anonymity, which has since been extended to protect the identity of her daughter and granddaughter. She has since lived under a series of pseudonyms.

For added context, the DOJ also settled with the Malvern, PA based Endo Health for a fraction of what was being sought. Even the judge presiding over the case was confused: "I just don’t understand how it went from $1 billion to $200 million."

McKinsey's consulting work has also been influential in establishing many of the "norms" of how governments and corporations are run. The company has been influential in the British Department of Health for many years and was heavily involved in the discussions around the Health and Social Care Act 2012. Many of McKinsey's alumni become CEOs of major corporations or hold high level government positions. In doing so, they influence the other organizations with McKinsey's values and culture. McKinsey's alumni have been appointed as CEOs or high-level executives at Google, American Express, Boeing, IBM, Westinghouse Electric, Sears, AT&T, PepsiCo, and Enron. McKinsey alumni have held positions with Tony Blair's office.

McKinsey's fingerprints can be found at the scene of some of the most spectacular corporate and financial debacles of recent decades.

Over the years McKinsey has been convicted of fraud, theft, corruption and money laundering; business as usual. This firm is a monster - one of three of the largest strategy mgmt consulting firms in the world. Quote:New Jersey Ratifies the Constitution

The New Jersey ratifying caucus approved the Constitution on December 18, 1787. Highly critical of the Articles of Confederation, the delegates acted quickly to ratify the new constitution. New Jersey was the third state to do so, following the votes of Delaware and Pennsylvania.

Quote:    Now be it known, that we, the delegates of the state of New Jersey, chosen by the people thereof, for the purpose aforesaid, having maturely deliberated on and considered the aforesaid proposed Constitution, do hereby, for and on the behalf of the people of the said state of New Jersey, agree to, ratify, and confirm, the same and every part thereof.

Prior to the American Revolution, New Jersey was part of the original land grant to the Duke of York. He, in turn, granted it to Lord Berkeley and Sir George Carteret in June 1664. The province was divided, in 1676, between the proprietors. By that division, East New Jersey was assigned to Carteret, and West New Jersey to William Penn and others, who had purchased it from Lord Berkeley. The division and divisiveness continued until Queen Anne, in April 1702, reunited both provinces into one province, and by commission appointed a governor over them.

In the nineteenth century, New Jersey was nicknamed “The Garden State.” Abraham Browning, a Camden attorney, is credited with the name, noting that the “Garden State is an immense barrel, filled with good things to eat and open at both ends, with Pennsylvanians grabbing from one end and New Yorkers from the other.”

Over the course of the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, however, farmland gave way to urban industry. Today New Jersey exports manufactured goods around the world and is a center of the biotechnology industry.

Dec 18, 1968: Lollipops! And all free today! The children's musical fantasy film CHITTY CHITTY BANG BANG directed by Ken Hughes based on the novel by Ian Fleming & screenplay by Roald Dahl, starring Dick Van Dyke, Sally Ann Howes, Lionel Jeffries, Robert Helpmann and Gert Fröbe, opened on this day in the USA & UK.

Caractacus Potts (Dick Van Dyke) turned 99 last week.

Quote:What kind of car was Chitty?

Based on Ian Fleming’s novel, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang: The Magical Car, from 1964, Fleming was more famous for his James Bond 007 books; the English author turned to children’s literature while convalescing from a heart attack.

He based Chitty on a hybrid of a customised 1920s Mercedes racing car with a 23-litre engine from a World War I Zeppelin aircraft and his own car, a Standard Tourer, from his younger days.

Six different cars were built for the film, with the first one having to be scrapped afterwards, having been crashed and set alight. The remaining five are still in existence, including the Original GEN 11 Road Car used in the driving scenes, which promoted the film and was later sold to New Zealand filmmaker Sir Peter Jackson.

The other four cars belong respectively to the National Motor Museum in Beaulieu, Hampshire; billionaire British businessman Lord Anthony Bamford; the Dezer Auto Museum in Florida; and a private auto enthusiast in Florida, who owns the flying version fitted with wings and propellers – probably the most famous, as it features in the iconic final scene, when it flies off into the sunset after Caractacus proposes to Truly and finally sells his patent for Toot Sweets to ensure the family’s future.

There was quite a lot of crossover between the James Bond films and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, as famous 007 stuntman Vic Armstrong performed many of the hair-raising stunts for Dick Van Dyke. Actor Gert Fröbe, who played chilling Bond villain Goldfinger, portrayed Baron Bomburst, while his screen wife the Baroness was played by Anna Quayle, who was secret agent Frau Hoffner in Casino Royale in 1967. Desmond Llewellyn, who played 007’s famous gadget inventor, Q, also popped up in Chitty as a scrap dealer!

Few will read On the Art of Cinema as a serious work of film theory. But it's an excellent cautionary tale. According to Kim, "Artistic skill is only a genuine creative force in combination with highly developed political vision." It's worth remembering just how dead wrong he was."

The overnight Israeli airstrikes in Yemen were aimed at paralysing all three ports used by the Iran-backed Houthis on the western coast of the country. All of the tugboats used to bring ships into ports were struck in the Israeli attack.

In Israel's previous attack on the Hodeidah port, the cranes used to unload shipments were struck. Now, it is believed by Israel that all activity at the ports controlled by the Houthis is now paralyzed. Israel showing the world the real meaning of FAFO!

LOL. Really now, his family knew, all of DC swamp knew, the whole country knew, the whole world knew, but the brain rot media professed with wall to wall coverage saying Biden was performing the best he ever had. Meanwhile, Why is the headline written in the past tense? He's still President, still diminished unless some miracle drug just gave him super brain powers. Who is in charge?? Been asking since Jan 21, 2021.

"Congress Wants More Pork With Plenty of Bells and Whistles"

"Once again and as usual, the Democrats in Congress along with the traitorous Speaker Mike Johnson want to rush out and pass an outrageous spending bill—right before Christmas. The ‘Continuing Resolution Bill’ to fund the government until March 28th, 2025 provides a tree full of Christmas gifts for members of Congress and ‘coal’ for American citizens."

"In fact, Congress seems to have utter contempt for taxpayers. They actually want to fund bioweapons labs to bring about ‘gain of function’ in order to bring about another health disaster. A lot of money was made from Covid and the criminals that brought it about want more—always more...."

Atari purchase for Christmas on this day in 1981.

From 1980, the VCS has only four front switches and a capital-letters logotype. The Atari 2600, a video game console released by Atari in 1977. Originally called the Atari Video Computer System, the system was the most popular gaming console of the late '70s and early '80s. This model is the "Woody" unit with woodgrain and 4 front switches that is the most common and iconic of the various 2600 models.

Rick Maurer's port of Taito's Space Invaders, released in 1980, is the first VCS game to have more than one million copies sold—eventually doubling that within a year and totaling more than 6 million cartridges by 1983. It became the killer app to drive console sales. Versions of Atari's own Asteroids and Missile Command arcade games, released in 1981, were also major hits. Each early VCS game is in a 2K ROM. Later games, like Space Invaders, have 4K. The VCS port of Asteroids (1981) is the first game for the system to use 8K via a bank switching technique between two 4K segments.

Saturday morning cartoons got scrapped for Atari + MTV. LOL.
$211 in 1981 is equivalent in purchasing power to about $732 today.

Space Operations Command was established on 1 September 1982 as Space Command (SPACECOM), which was the first dedicated space command in the United States Armed Forces. On 15 November 1985, Space Command was renamed Air Force Space Command (AFSPC or AFSPACECOM) to distinguish it from U.S. Space Command, Naval Space Command, and Army Space Command. On 20 December 2019, following the establishment of the United States Space Force as an independent service, Air Force Space Command was also redesignated as United States Space Force (USSF) and served as the transitional headquarters of the new service, but remained a component of the U.S. Air Force. On 21 October 2020, United States Space Force was redesignated as Space Operations Command and officially transitioned from a U.S. Air Force major command to a U.S. Space Force field command.
