She said "The Party controls the guns - what can The People do?" That's a pretty solid real-world example of the need for The Second Amendment. Be that as it may, I'm here to tell you right now that there sometimes comes a point where it doesn't matter who controls the guns. People can, and sometimes do, reach a point of desperation where death on your feet is preferable to life on your knees. When that tipping point occurs, bad things happen rapidly. I've told the tale before of the Bosnian War where, near the beginning of it, an acquaintance of mine and a couple of his friends enticed a soldier on patrol down a dark alley "for a drink". They came back out, carrying his weapons, and he never rose again. They took those weapons and took out a few other soldiers on patrol, gaining more weapons with which to arm more people. A week or so later, the by then larger militant mass took over a weapons and ammo depot... and armed even more people. Then the war was on. It happened just that fast. The actual power really does reside with "The People", but sometimes it takes them getting desperate enough to exercise it in earnest for change to come. The CCP should beware, and be more responsive, take better care, of their citizens lest a desperation point prove to be their undoing and the rich get eaten. . The Chinese I have known are very smart but alas the mainland folks are brain washed and highly surveilled/afraid but when you lose everything your attitude changes usually and have nothing else to lose... Having said that I would laugh my butt off if Taiwan invaded mainland China... The annual Chinese congress that gets together every year in Beijing would be a serious target for someone who wanted to get rid of the CCP and many, if not most, of their minions.(01-06-2025, 03:42 AM)727Sky Wrote: https://youtu.be/Pz00l_od8Ag RE: The clock is ticking for China - Ninurta - 01-06-2025 To be honest, I consider what other folks call "Mainland China" to actually be "Taiwan West". It's just that Taiwan West is currently in a state of rebellion against it's legitimate government, the Nationalist Chinese. The nationalists were there first - it's the communists who have rebelled against the legitimate government ... So, yeah, I think that Taiwan SHOULD invade, and retake the nation that is legitimately theirs! . RE: The clock is ticking for China - 727Sky - 01-09-2025 RE: The clock is ticking for China - 727Sky - 01-11-2025 good for them but hard to organize anything under this surveillance state More about the new virus and the crematoriums RE: The clock is ticking for China - 727Sky - 01-11-2025 More about the student that died or was killed....Stupid authoritarian reaction. RE: The clock is ticking for China - 727Sky - 01-12-2025 Can you imagine working at your job for over half a year and your employer does not pay your monthly or back past wages even though you are making minimum wage to begin with.. RE: The clock is ticking for China - 727Sky - 01-12-2025 RE: The clock is ticking for China - 727Sky - 01-12-2025 RE: The clock is ticking for China - Ninurta - 01-15-2025 Maybe Xi needs to practice saying "Oops!" in English... . RE: The clock is ticking for China - F2d5thCav - 01-15-2025 One thing not mentioned regarding the PRC - Taiwan confrontation is that it is existential for BOTH sides.
Yes, Taiwan could cease to exist as an independent state. But if the PRC screws up and the invasion fails, my take is that the internal unrest inside the PRC would absolutely explode. The recent news about the PRC assembling a D-Day style landing boat fleet. Yeah, sure. That would be just a juicy target for a single strike by a nuclear weapon. Purely military target on open water ... oh yeah. Cheers RE: The clock is ticking for China - 727Sky - 01-18-2025 RE: The clock is ticking for China - 727Sky - 01-19-2025 The Virus is really bad as some are dying withing 3 or 4 days...
