It will be an interesting showdown when it comes.
On the one hand, we have alleged "christians" who believe themselves to be preaching a " loving, hopeful, freeing gospel of Jesus Christ" that is anything but - it's more of a judgemental, judgemental, judgemental doctrine of demons. I know they mean well, but all they are doing is throwing their pearls before swine in the biblical sense - God never said to, nor condoned, preaching judgement at folks who don't want to hear it. That is an invasion of THEIR rights, which negates the rights of the preacher. Your right to swing your fist ends where someone else's nose begins.
Christians are supposed to shepherd the sheep, not throw rocks at the goats. They are, instead, neglecting the sheep to kill the goats... and they are utterly ignoring the wolves and lions eyeballing their sheep in the interim.
On the other hand, we have a bunch of "secular" folks who are no better, who have no better understanding of what "free speech" entails. Just like the alleged christians, they too are preaching heresy at folks who just don't want to hear it, thereby violating THEIR rights. They can say whatever they like in public spaces - either side can - but that does not extend to chasing folks down and trying to shove bullshit down their throats. that is where violation starts.
And, as always, freedom carries risks and bears consequences. You can say whatever you like, but you do not get to complain when it crashes back down on you. Other folks can speak just as freely as you can.
What it looks like to me is a dog-fight. Just throwing two pit bulls into a ring to see which one has the bigger bite and can draw the most blood. The problem is, I and a lot of other folks who just don't care have to be dragged into that dog-fight, thus violating OUR rights to peace and liberty.
Churches are for preaching. Gay bath houses are for gay-ing. Keep that crap in the proper venue, and no problem. Drag it into the public forum in an effort to mask actual problems that really need to be addressed, and problems start.
So, yeah, it'll be an interesting dog-fight to watch. Just don't expect me or anyone else to enter a fight we have no dog in. We are not gay, we are not trans, and we have no interest in preaching to folks who don't want to hear it. We just don't care either way. We prefer a live and let live philosophy, as we think God is entirely capable of sorting it out without our interference. We won't be forced into being the ones to bring in the break bars when the other dog gets a good bite on your favorite dog. We have other things to do - like pursue peace and quiet.
We just aren't all that in to blood sports.
