I'm going down to that park in Battle Creek on the weekend of the 14th for the metal detecting hunt and to pan for gold on that stream.
I'm not sure how much I can dig into the stream bed, but I'm going to use the post-hole digger until I'm told to stop. I'll have to figure out a way to fill it back up as I go along, take an extra bucket for the rocks, gravel, and sand for that purpose. Sounds reasonable to me to do it that way on public or private land.
I will need to set up a pack for that excursion, a backpack for hiking in. I'll report on the preps before and how it worked out afterwards.
As for today, I'm dragging that sluice back up to the house and cleaning it up with the power washer to pan up whatever gold flakes might be hiding in there.
