It would be wonderful, and would do more for us as a people, and more for this planet, if they taught us the history of our mistakes, and if we could learn from them.

I like to say that mistakes are life lessons if you learn from them. But we humans seem to have a hard time benefiting from life lessons when greed raises its ugly head.

Decades of lead and zinc mining scarred the landscape, with scattered 200-foot-tall mountains of waste sitting on top of severely undermined land and highly acidic water flowing through and out.

What a horrible story... There is another place where Uranium was mined and the waste was left by a river which provided water for several million people. Several million people who could and would have elevated cancer risks. Profit has always been first before people's welfare all over the world.
