Vatican document highlights women and 'radical inclusion' of LGBTQ+ - Infolurker - 06-21-2023

We all knew this was coming sooner or later to the "church of Rome". Appears it will be sooner now of course since we are approaching that time (you will know the season by the signs).

How long before the rainbow progress flag flies over the Vatican?

Vatican document highlights need for concrete steps for women, 'radical inclusion' of LGBTQ+

Quote:VATICAN CITY (AP) — An unprecedented global canvassing of Catholics has called for the church to take concrete steps to promote women to decision-making roles, for a “radical inclusion” of the LGBTQ+ community and for new accountability measures to check how bishops exercise authority.

The document also asked what concrete steps the church can take to better welcome LGBTQ+ people and others who have felt marginalized and unrecognized by the church so that they don’t feel judged

Perhaps most significantly, the document used the terminology “LGBTQ+ persons” rather than the Vatican’s traditional “persons with homosexual tendencies,” suggesting a level of acceptance that Francis ushered in a decade ago with his famous “Who am I to judge” comment.

This is some of the best news I've heard all day. It's great!

Catholics weren't always dicks, I had sex reassignment surgery in 1977 at the Catholic Mt. San Rafael hospital in Colorado. Nuns were everywhere, one even gave me a ride to the bus station when I was discharged. They were all very nice and very kind.

There was some other good news today too!

That is a matter of conscience between that congregation and their god. It's actually protected behavior, protected by the First Amendment to the Constitution - no one, government or otherwise, may act against them for exercising their religion, however they may choose to do that, so long as they are not bringing it into our own house, or trying to force us to attend theirs.

The only recourse that individuals have is to, you know, avoid going to that church if their activities violate one's own conscience. That's it. Just don't attend their services if it bugs you. Or, to quote Paul, "We have no such customs, neither the Churches of God" - find a church that upholds one's own conscience, and let the rest do as they will in peace. When their time comes, a conversation between them and God will hash out whether they were in the right or in the wrong, just like the rest of us will have that same conversation regarding our own conduct.

We will not be held to account for their conduct, any more than they will be held to account for ours..

It's not our place to judge. We have no say in their conduct, only in our own.
