It's still an ongoing situation so not much information is available but it's believed Mr Tatarsky was holding a seminar at the café when the explosion happened , an advisor to President Zelenskyy had this to say.

Quote:It begins in RF... Spiders are eating each other in a jar. Question of when domestic terrorism would become an instrument of internal political fight was a matter of time, as breakthrough of ripe abscess. Irreversible processes and Troubles 2.0. await RF. While we will watch.

A message to Prigozhin following his spat with the Russian MOD perhaps ?

A little more information has been provided by Russia's Interior Ministry.

Quote:Tatarsky was presented with a statue which had a bomb hidden inside, according to Interior Ministry sources quoted by Russian state media.

St Petersburg is President Putin's home city, and where he first rose to prominence.

One country's terrorist is another country's hero. That one explosion should be making several in Russia feel a tad bit insecure !

A suspect named as Darya Trepova has been arrested and CCTV footage released of her carrying a box into the restaurant that is believed to be the boobytrapped statue.

Quote:Trepova's partner, Dmitry Rylov, told the Russian news site SVTV News that while his wife was against the war in Ukraine, "she would never kill" and "believes his wife was framed".
The Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs has released a video of Daria Trepova which appears to show a confession.
The circumstances under which the filming was done is not known.

From your news link:

Quote:Russian news reports said the bomb was hidden in a bust of the blogger that the suspect had given to him as a gift just before the blast.

I don't know why but reminded me of this much older covert incident...

Quote:The Thing, also known as the Great Seal bug, was one of the first covert listening devices (or "bugs") to use passive techniques to transmit an audio signal. It was concealed inside a gift given by the Soviet Union to W. Averell Harriman, the United States Ambassador to the Soviet Union, on August 4, 1945.

Cold war Russian 'gifts' can be dangerous & deadly.

Reuters update:

Quote:The number of people wounded in the bomb blast that killed a prominent Russian military blogger in St Petersburg on Sunday has risen to 32 from 25 reported earlier, Russia's RIA sate news agency reported.
