I have to admit, it is a very-very good movie.

It is said that clothes maketh the man and in this film, it shows how such a quote can be true.
'Chance' is a simple-minded gardener who works in a walled-in New York home of a wealthy
retired businessman. Things we deem salient in our lives are beyond this private gullible man
and change is a stranger to him.

Chance's world is structured on what he views on the many televisions his employer has donated
to him and due to his protected environment, now perceives the outside -somewhere he never
goes, through the lens of 1970's product-advertising. What attire he wears is also from Chance's
patron, expensive old-style suits that always remain in fashion in the world of impression-based
commerce.

When his aged employer dies, a maid advises Chance that he must leave his protected haven and
so, dressed as a well-to-do late-middle-aged man, the slow-witted gardener sets out to acquire the
only things he's ever believed were important to him. Food, water and shelter.

In a series of accidental incidents, Chance becomes perceived as -not only someone he isn't, but a
figure of great wisdom and may even be God himself!

As @"A51Watcher2"#53 says, it's a classic.
