China's Hunting Eagle Strike Gyrocopter - 727Sky - 08-02-2023

When your society is based upon a totalitarian regime and you have disarmed all the serfs in your society what more of an aviation asset would you need ? Maybe a mini gun for a bigger body count ?

Quote:China’s military has a brand new toy, and it’s literally straight out of a James Bond movie. It’s called the Hunting Eagle Strike Gyrocopter. Gyrocopters have been used by military and police forces in the past mostly in reconnaissance and surveillance missions, but in 2022, China released footage on a state run CCTV channel showing the Hunting Eagle equipped with 4 anti-tank guided missiles and a sensor system to guide these missiles. This is brand new, and it has a lot of military experts scratching their heads. Why is China seemingly using these gyrocopters in their otherwise modern People’s Liberation Army? What are the pros and cons of using gyrocopters on the battlefield? And finally, what is a gyrocopter and where did it come from?

I watched the video and this is intriguing.

The cost of these are about 5 Thousand Dollars base!!!

Compare that to a base Black Hawk helicopter at 15 Million Dollars base.

So.... you can put up 3,000 of these things for the price on 1 Blackhawk.

Transport, appears it carries 3 with little cargo, let's just go with 2 people and some cargo like ammo / food. You could deploy 6,000 troops with these things for the price on 1 Blackhawk.

The price of a "cheap" stinger missile is like 38K... Think about a swarm of these escorting larger mi-26's. Shit, that is hell of an invasion force. Unless you are deploying old style WW2 flak cannons, these are dangerous just due to the overwhelming number. They are going "old school".

Taiwan, Korea, and Japan better bust out the old Flak cannons (which will tear the shit out of these things).

Seeing this, I would be putting in orders for Flak cannons and "unlimited ammo" right the hell now.

China has the bodies to spare, casualties are an afterthought. A massive swarm attack is entirely possible.

I still think a swarm attack of these things would be highly effective.

I am not sure what the range is but Taiwan is only 100 miles off the coast.

Piloting thousands of troops with these things is a serious threat. Especially at 5k cost per copter.

I remember being told the price of cranking up an Apache was $1K. That was the cost back in the early '80s. Bunches of friends who took off for Aviation School for that Warrant Officer pay. Never hard to find people willing to fly once you've got 'em in uniform.

Did you see anything about the operating costs of these?

Quote:These Chinese “Hunting Eagle Strike Gyrocopters” are propelled by an engine-powered blade in the rear and are lifted to the air with the help of autorotation of the main blade. It also needs a runway just like other aircraft, but gyrocopters do not need a really long runway for taking off.

The “Hunting Eagle” has two configurations: single and two-seater. The manufacturer said these gyrocopters “has a range of around 250 miles” with a gross weight of 1,235 lbs.

Quote:Aside from UAVenture, there’s also an Austrian company that has successfully built a military-grade gyrocopter called TrixEye. This can seat two individuals and can be produced for as little as $6,000. This “cheap-yet-durable aircraft” features several upgrades from traditional, consumer gyrocopters including a drop box under the cabin, which can be used to outfit a parachute for delivery and rescue gear and goods.

It can also be outfitted with a Kevlar composite to provide additional security. On top of that, it can reach a maximum altitude of 15,000 feet at 112mph.

For surveillance purposes, it also has two gyro-stabilized camera systems, night vision sensors, and GPS tracking.

According to Director of Trixy Aviation Rainer Farrag, this model is made with the US military in mind.

“This professional model is very different. It is designed with police and armed forces in mind. Double electrical system, double fuel system, armored cabin and special software for the double glass cockpit are only some of the differences.”

Because of its lower production cost, the 100 TrixyEyes were already sold to private clients and to other countries like Egypt. The Turkish police is also using this for their operations.
As for the US military, Trixi Aviation USA Inc. is reportedly “negotiating with officials in the US.”
