The Crop duster and Sky Warden program - 727Sky - 07-23-2023

I like this aircraft and particularly the PT-6 engine power source.  I am surprised the Airfarce considered a tail dragger and a prop plane but this bird has a good pay load and long range when considered against other small A.F. aircraft not to mention the cost per hour to operate the aircraft. Stand off missiles and good electronics can get the job done in most active 3D world engagements IMO.

I assume with the proper avionics and air to air missiles that a prop job could be quite lethal still.

Cheers

Mmm, yeah, lots of thoughts to digest from this end.  Would like to see one duel with a chopper.  Folding wings, strengthened undercarriage for anti sub off a carrier perhaps.  Fitted with a Martin Baker or Escapac and I'd feel a little bit more confident.

Nice vid @"Skye"#109 .

Kind regards,

Bally--

Right, the question boils down to, will the fight be WW2-style dogfighting or an exchange of missiles ?

Against a helo could be interesting, but AFAIK, the heaviest air to air missiles carried by them are Stingers or the like.  I expect a fixed wing prop job could carry heavier air-to-air ordnance.

And again, the avionics -- supremely important these days.  My missile isn't any good if your ECM can defeat its guidance.

Cheers

Yeah,  I'm with you on that.  A nice little package all the same.  Guess it can fill a specific niche while there are a plethora of other like aircraft that fill multiple roles.

Me, I'm just dreaming mate.

My regards,
