The internet has never been completely "safe." I'm asking mods here if the site itself has anything out of the ordinary that might harm its members equipment. What I read about ddos attacks is they usually hide a bigger attack within. I was hoping someone would really look into it and let us know if everything is copacetic or not.
I think that where Im coming from this was just an overabundance of the now normal phishing malware and ransomware we now face. That said all that's out there is an email address from this site, this isn't a bug thats gonna jump to your phone or laptop, this is just a high level of multiple kinds of attacks across the board, which slows down the internet access no more no less
Go look at the links because yes internet service was degraded over the weekend, but it wasn't an independent attack on Rogue Nation or ATS
Most malware - viruses, ransomeware, trojans, etc - is delivered these days by exploiting javascripts to cause a target computer to down load the payload thinking it's just another part of the site,and then run it. So blocking access to a site from which they would try to deliver malware would be counterproductive. If you can't load the site, you're not likely to load their malware, either.
Attacks that cause a site to refuse to load for whatever reason are usually just simple denial of service for that site.
But back to those javascripts - they scare the crap outta me, but almost all sites use Java these days to provide additional functionality. This site is no different. Various scripts provide additional functions here.
I use script-blockers to block script downloads. That keeps my machine safer from malware, but it has drawbacks in that it also limits functionality on modern web sites. For example, one site I go to - I think it's one of the Google sites - has a screen with Sherlock Holmes on it that displays for me that says "when you have eliminated all the Java Scripts, what must remain is a blank page". That is just how heavily some sites rely on Java.
I use "NoScript" primarily, which will allow me to temporarily allow the scripts to get through on sites I trust. It also has a setting to permanently whitelist sites that I've tested enough to stamp "SAFE" on so that their functionality scripts get through.
On the plus side, a lot of ads are delivered through scripts, so using a script blocker will also show you a reduction or elimination of ads. I also use "uBlock Origin", but it's more complex, and using multiple script blockers like that can also have unforeseen consequences, so I don't generally recommend it... I'm just that paranoid myself. One or the other, but not both or all, will generally suffice for most users. Of the two, I recommend "NoScript" for it's ease of use. It can be downloaded as an "add-on" for most browsers.

"DNS" is "Domain Name Server". It's the system that translates the name made of letters (rogue-nation.com") to a series of numbers called an IP address that computers actually use to find sites on the internet It's usually what the government buggers up when they seize a domain, and if you already know the IP address, that can often be bypassed.
"ICANN" is the "Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers" They are the fine folks who keep track of your domain name, whether it's still alive, and what IP numbers it is assigned to.
If either of those goes wonky, and your domain name either expires or is otherwise dissociated from it's IP address, then your computer can no longer use the domain name to find the IP address, and your browser reports back that the site "cannot be found".

Personally, I cannot definitely state that BIAD did snag a cable from the server to RN site,
but his usual clumsiness could certainly be a factor. This suggestion is based on actually
witnessing the Man-Girl doing this (below) with an extension cable during some work I
was doing.
(BIAD thinks it brings admirers, but all it does is make certain parts of his body light up)

FYI,
Your old Rogue Nation 3 was also unfindable and had the same error as this one. I clicked on it when searching and that site wouldn't load either.

Hey, gang.
I tried to log in about 8pm and it would pull up the site, but when I would try and log in I got the MyBB error prompt again. Same as last time.
My phone even did something really weird during one attempt to log in.
I tried several times, in different ways to access the site. I think it was about 30 mins that i couldn't get in.
Anyone else experience this? Tues 8:00-8:40pm est

I was finally able to get on the site again.
R3 was down as well. Everything pretty much looked the same as last time. I'm keeping this log of what's been going on.
Attack #2 in 4 days. Site was down 4 hours this time.

that's weird cause i went there a couple of times and tried to use the click here bar for the new site and it would either come back with the mybb box or take me to the login page and then the mybb box.

Ninurta is under the weather today but I'm sure later he'll share what the people said about the outage.
I was completely blocked for a couple days, but Ninurta was able to get in the site some on the first day... I made him look at my phone because he said "the site's not down"... Lol. I proved otherwise!

I've done some investigating of my own and came up with a few things I'd like to share, but will have to do it later. I've got to backtrack and find the articles again. Apparently in the UK several (or all of them, i cant rememberthis am) "conspiracy websites" went down the same time frame of all of this with ATS and now RN.
I'll be back later today with everything I found compiled together.
I also did a little study on DDoS and the SQ error we were getting.
I'll be interested to hear what Ninurta has to share. Hope he feels better.

Here's what I know, and it's not much at the moment.
The web host was telling us that our disk space was full, which is highly improbable. We pay for extra disk space every month, and it's not reasonable to think it's all full up. For example, RN3 ran for about 6 or 7 years, and a full site backup of it is only about 8 or 9 GB. This site has been running for about a year, so it should be nowhere near that. We have, currently, about 100 GB of storage space, and a worst-case estimate would not have more than 1/4 of that space in use.
Once before, when we had similar issues, they told us the same thing, but as it turned out they had misallocated our space, leading to a false report that the space was all used up... but we got that fixed.
Also, the web host has been, for the past couple of weeks, migrating some sites to new servers because of issues they were having with the old servers. I know that one of those servers is located in the UK, but am unsure of where the other one is. I don't know if this site was impacted by that migration or not, and the web host isn't saying.
At one point, the web host claimed the site was up, and posted a screenshot of it to prove it... but when I tried, it was still down, so I sent them a screenshot of the MyBB Error screen, and told them "nice that you can access the site, but this is what the rest of the world is getting."
About 3 hours after that, the site was back up, with so far no explanation.
I did try to do a full-site backup a few days ago. Since the attack on RN3, I've gotten paranoid about that, and so periodically do full site backups and store them locally just in case. When I tried a few days ago, the backups got to 13 bytes and would stop, indicating a "disk full" problem just as the web host reported, but again that is not a condition that should exist. My best guess is that it is a disk space misallocation error that needs to be fixed, perhaps brought on by the migrations in progress, but that's just a guess.
I'm basically just stabbing in the dark at this point, just like everyone else.
