Spanish woman María del Carmen García's daughter Verónica was just 13 years old when she was raped at knifepoint by her neighbor Antonio Cosme in 1998. The rapist was sentenced to nine years in prison for the crime but in June 2005 he was on day release when he approached María at a bus stop near her home outside of Alicante.
Cosme showed no remorse for his sickening crime and even taunted María as he asked "how her daughter was". Cosme then went into a local bar María's family frequented.

In the meantime, María, who had been left feeling a combination of rage, fear and hysteria over his question, went to a nearby petrol station and purchased a container of fuel.


She entered the bar Cosme was at, poured the gasoline over his head and set her daughter's rapist alight. Cosme suffered burns over 90% of his body and died in hospital days later.
María was reportedly found wandering around the port on the evening of the killing and confessed. She claimed she'd intended to scare or badly injure him to give him an idea of what he put her daughter through.
María was sentenced to nine-and-a-half years in jail for the killing, which was later reduced to five-and-a-half years on appeal. The mother's case garnered sympathy from across the country and there was a huge effort to keep her out of prison.

I may have brought this up before, maybe not, but has anyone here panned for gold? If so, could you describe how you went about choosing where to pan and if you found any gold, be it fine dust, flakes or nuggets? Also, what techniques did you use, like a sluice or rocker, or how did you use the pan to concentrate the heavy material?

Surfing has always been a passion of mine. Not that I was any good at it, but i loved and enjoyed it just the same. I've followed the Pro Surfing circuit my whole life, and have seen millions of surf pics. They're all "cool" in my book, but recently at the Olympics this picture was taken, and it is The absolute coolest pic in history, imo.

This was taken at a break in the middle of the ocean called Teahupoo (pronounced: chee-o-poo) during the Olympics surfing contest. 

Looks like he's standing on the clouds; while he's actually getting tossed from a giant wave. \lll/

Scientists 'Mind Controlled' Mice Remotely in Extraordinary World First

At the mere flick of a magnetic field, mice engineered with nanoparticle-activated 'switches' inside their brains were driven to feed, socialize, and act like clucky new mothers in an experiment designed to test an innovative research tool.

While 'mind control' animal experiments are far from new, they have generally relied on cumbersome electrodes tethering the subject to an external system, which not only requires invasive surgery but also sets limits on how freely the test subject can move about.



In what is claimed to be a breakthrough in neurology, researchers from the Institute for Basic Science (IBS) in Korea have developed a method for targeting pathways in the brain using a combination of genetics, nanoparticles, and magnetic fields.

They call the technology Nano-MIND, an acronym for Magnetogenetic Interface for NeuroDynamics. And while mind-control is a coarse but relatively accurate way of describing it, the system in its current form is intended to provide researchers with a means of remotely activating neural circuits for a range of research applications.

"This is the world's first technology to freely control specific brain regions using magnetic fields," says Jinwoo Cheon, senior author and director of the IBS Center for Nanomedicine.

"We expect it to be widely used in research to understand brain functions, sophisticated artificial neural networks, two-way BCI [brain-computer interface] technologies, and new treatments for neurological disorders."

Magnetic stimulation is an emerging field of research in neurology, where washing the brain with pulses of electromagnetism broadly massages whole regions into subtly changing their behavior.

To target specific circuits, the researchers took a leaf out of another field of research called optogenetics, which genetically engineers mechanisms into cells that can be readily activated by a light source.

In this case, the team integrated ion channels into targeted populations of brain cells in mice.

Instead of delivering light through a localized fiber, as in optogenetics, the ion channels could be switched on magnetically with a twist of a tiny actuator. All that's required is a surrounding field that's strong enough to pull at the nanoparticle.

To put the setup through its paces, the researchers designed three different tests. The first concerned receptors involved in complex feeding and reward behaviors within the lateral hypothalamus, a region located deep inside the very core of the brain.

Monitoring the animals' movements and food intake within and outside of a magnetic field revealed significant differences that showed it was possible to literally switch the mouse's desire to eat on and off at will.

Under the influence of the magnetic field, a group of mice with switches on their excitatory neurons ate only half as much food. A second group with engineered inhibitory neurons ate twice as much while the magnetic field was active.

The lateral hypothalamus also contains pathways responsible for sociability. Placing a suitably engineered mouse into a chamber containing a mouse they'd never met before while the magnetic fields were active showed 'friendly' forms of behavior could be encouraged in the mice.

Another test targeted key receptors in what's known as the medial preoptic area, which is implicated in parental care.

Having such pinpoint control over specific circuits would be a boon for researchers seeking to map neurological pathways or test novel 

In time, similar nanotechnology may even treat poor mental health in humans or play a significant role in therapies for debilitating neurological conditions, thereby returning complete control of a person's mind back to the individual.

This research was published in Nature Nanotechnology.

I'm betting this new tech will be great for controlling all us serfs. 
The more these things advance the less excited about the future I get.

I have a theory I would like to share. A theory I have about our colons.


Yes, our colons.

I have been an avid UFO/alien/abduction fan ever since I watched The Empire Strikes back in the theaters back in the early 80s. I was 4or5 years old. I had a fascination with all of this, but there was one aspect I always thought was total moloarky. I thought these people were making these stories up. The one thing that always made me feel like these "abducties" were full of crap.

The anal probes.

Now, I do not think that extraterrestrial beings were abducting people and probing their butt.

But, I do believe that some of these stories are true, and that some people have been abducted, and whatever abducted them was very interested in the colons. Hence the anal probe aspect that seemed to be attached to most of these stories.


I went through some serious colon issues a few years back now. I leaned the ins and outs (haha) of our colons, and the importance of having regular bowel movements. 

Here's what I learned that might help others understand a bit more about why this is important. 

After my surgeries, and after I was able to be up moving and all that, I had added fiber into my routine. I noticed a huge change in the way I felt.

What I came to figure out is, when I don't have a bowel movement, and when I get backed up I get into a really bad mood, or really depressed, or my anxiety goes up sky high, and I am more easily frustrated.
If it has been a few days these symptoms get worse. Once I am able to completely* void my bowels I feel all of those symptoms dissappear and am able to have peace again.

It sounds silly, but this is an effective weapon that could be used to cripple us and keep us arguing because of the extra frustration we carry simply because we are "full of shit."

Processed Foods remove fiber and add things like sugar instead. Ultra processed food is mainly consumed by poor people. Me being one of them. Not being able to afford name brand items, or healthy foods was always a problem for me having to stretch my food budget as far as I possibly could. Which meant I had* to buy cheap foods.


For instance: I love potatoe chips. They are my weakness. But, when I don't have any chips for a while, and then eat some I noticed that I will even get depressed after eating them. Chips will literally make me depressed. If I haven't had a bowel movement then I am at my worst until I am able to "void everything."

So, I wonder...

Was all this anal probing research for how to weaponize or foods to get stuck in our colons so that all these chemicals can do work on us, even up to that point in causing depression and anxiety through foods.

Let's face it, our food is killing us.

It would make the anal probing make more sense.

My advice to you all.
Eat more fiber. Psyllium husk fiber powder (no sugar) works wonders. To the point I am able to void my colon on a daily basis. When I am able to do this my entire outlook on life changes and I feel happy. When I am unable to, it is the opposite. 

This may seem silly, but this could be of help. Not going to the potty on a regular basis may be the cause of a lot of the mental and physical suffering a lot of people are going through. Simply adding fiber to your routine could change your whole life and protect you from "weaponized food."

Hi all. So sorry to only post when it's about myself as I rarely reply anymore .
You don't need to reply, I'm just happy to have a place to vent.

I've been swamped in depression worse now than ever.  I've lost interest in most of activities I once enjoyed, except music , roblox and some short videos on youtube, but now those interests have been sliding as well. 
I'm basically forcing myself to keep listening to music, and to keep playing roblox because if I don't I feel it will just become worse and worse.

There's so much going on in my head and there's so much wrong with my life that it just feels like a giant mess.

If I were to go to a therapist I wouldn't even know where to begin, at least online I can take my time typing it all out, and it's comforting to think that at least maybe one person reads it.

Basically I'm not just dealing with depression, but also anxiety, and OCD. 
The OCD is related to when I was seperated from my young son for years (long-story I won't bore you with now).

Then I also have stress from my work, if you can even call it that. There's my rentals that barely break-even, I think I'm at a loss now. I've been trying to learn to code for years, all unpaid effort off course ( I do have a portfolio now )
I have some disability income , but had to pay back a huge chunk a few months back , because appearantly I made 'too much' with my rentals. 
My rentals now have both been empty for more than 2 months each, and I will lose another full months rent to my agent.
I was dealing with tons of crap from leaking skylights, and mold remediation, and broken toilets, dated decor , etc all while on a limited budget. 

I'm also stressing about my aunt . She's my only aunt as far as I'm concerned and I know I will never see her again.
She lives in the Netherlands, I live in Florida.  She's 95 . I can only call once a week because then a caregiver will answer the phone, she won't answer anymore (dementia). 
I'm stressing about my mom , she's also elderly , and there isn't a day where I don't worry about her. Luckily my mom lives 20 minutes from me. We do have a codependent relationship. We are too close. Unlike with my father who I had zero bond with.


I hate that I'm stuck also living in Florida while I never wanted to move here in the damn first place. Everyday I'm silently cursing my father for blackmailing me all those years ago into moving here.

I'm stuck here and I know I can't and won't travel anymore even to the Netherlands, maybe never again. 
I worry if I were to travel without my mom, something may happen to her while I'm in the Netherlands.
To travel with my mom would be just as stressful. 

The one 'best' friend I had in the Netherlands , who I've know since 14 (now 52), doesn't care whether I'm dead or alive IMO.
The last time I saw this 'best' friend was before my son was born (august 2010). She has issues, and expected me to visit her in her town everytime I would visit from the US. So I've no seen here since.
But so before august 2010 this was still a relatively wonderful time in my life, where I regurarly visited the Netherlands, visited my aunt and best friend, and my mom would sometimes travel with me as well. 

All that has stopped completely since 2022. In 2022 I travelled to see my aunt, with my mom, and my aunt was in really bad shape. The trip was a nightmare and I know I will not return now. 

I miss those days almost everyday. I miss the old days with my aunt, my best friend, when my mom was younger and I didn't constantly worry about her.

Things will never return to that. I had no problem accepting I would never date again, but I have a hard time accepting that things will never return to those happier days.

I basically spend my days silently grieving my lost happier days, juggling useless barely paid jobs, juggling the excessive amounts of administration that comes with rentals (including tons of emails that i have to save), juggling my OCD, all while battling anxiety and depression.
I can't get organized, most of the time I feel overwhelmed, and spend even 'weekends' working through it all.

Just today I looked up online an image to see what it would look like in months how much time I have left (as in sentence left) won't suicide (loved ones)

Worst is my son saying he knows I'm depressed (he's 13). I thought I hid it pretty well.
I should add I have no friends , maybe my ex (who lives in sweden sons father) and visits once or twice a year.
I've long gotten over any loneliness and I'm numb all the time.
